I know our small town greeter. On the road, I always leave pushing the buggy with the receipt in hand. I never been checked and it's no big deal. Just keep your receipt visable.

The greeters who approach me, I do not know, so there's no small town chummy feel to it...

The greeters or downers, who approach me do so out of malice...

And I choose to not accomidate their malice...and I feel much better as a result...and then they stop bothering me...

I get the result I want...and as such feel better...and garner their respect for standing up for myself...

And others, who witness me standing up for myself, actually find solice in that...

And if enough people stand up, they will stop that silly practice...

And again...they already have security and cameras in the store...once I past all those other layers, and walking out with reciept...leave me alone, unless your saying 'hi' or 'have a good day' or 'Thanks for shopping with us' or asking me out on a date...

But if approaching just to imply criminal intent, stay away unless you have proof.

    Innocent until prooven guilty...

Not, guilty, and now you must proove your innocent...

Most theft occurs from in house employees, who walk out of side or back exits, or in the back where they know the placement of cameras, or from snacking on unpaid food...

A camera caught one lady stealing money right out of the register...

That's where the bulk of their loss comes from...

They need to keep a tighter eye on their own, instead of bothering custimers leaving store...

Innocent until proven guilty is supposed to be the way our legal system works. Sadly, it is just the reverse, police need really no proof other than a "feeling". A very sad state of affairs we live in these days.

Dude...it's Wal Mart, for cryin' out loud, with an octogenarian greeter doing a job they love to do. Malice?!? Are you kidding me?!? Maybe you should live in the mountains and be a hermit so the big, bad, evil 90 year old greeters won't get you. :biggrin_25526:

I was wondering myself that if being "accosted" by an elderly greeter simply following policy is this much of an issue to one, than what are the really MAJOR issues in their lives?

So, custimer was reaching for reciept, and greeter fell backwards, and then claimed assualt...but video cameras clarified the situation...

Wow, if not for the video camera...that greeter would of got away with lying or exagerating...and the good name of this custimor would of been tarnished...

No charges filed....I'm glad common and legal sense prevailed here...

Why not?.....my grandmother worked well into her mid 90's and was smarter than your average truck-driver.

"trying to stop the customer from leaving the store by using force"????
Where the hell was that part in the story?
It is (part of) the Greeters "JOB" to be sure that people aren't walking shopping-carts full of (un-paid for) merchandise right out the front door, by checking the receipt.
It is "LOSS PREVENTION's" JOB to "STOP" them from leaving. There aren't MANY States where they can do so "by force".
