who cares about mileage when you cant keep them on the road. The co I work for has 4 isx 525hp in identical kw's. 3 on the road and 1 that is still trying to make it out of kw's lot brand new. Mine out of the last 10 days has only been on the road 5 days, and the cel light came on again tonight, just got it back 3 hours earlier. 11 days, 3 trips to kw 1 tank heater, 1 oxygen sensor and who knows what tomorrow. one truck was only on the road for 2 days and had the oxygen sensor fail, and the other got the hook back to kw because of updates that wern't done prior to delivery, truck had less than 10k mi on it. You better not be haulin time sensitive freight with these things because its not if but when they will let you down

Sounds a lot like when the DPFs came out. One of the local guys hauling crude had to pay their good driver to stay around. He wasn't making any thing with the truck in the shop.
Some of the other trucks were in the shop A LOT but not as long and consistently as the one truck they couldn't seem to fix. It was always some thing with it.

Pre allt his EPA ######### I routinely got 7-8 MPG while at 80k with a 2000 C120 running 70 MPH. Now from what I am reading I would be lucky to get 5 MPG with the same freaking SPECS with an APU on the truck running 60. SO how in the hell are we saving the freaking Planet when we are burning 40% more fuel to do the same amount of work at a slower PACE.

I have seen mileages vary from 5.4 mpg to just over 7 mpg with the new engines. I have also heard of a company that runs out of Chicago to the west coast with the 11 liter cummins that is getting 8.5 mpg. The best I have gotten running the speed limit through CO and WY (75 mph) was 6.7 mpg hauling 71,000 pounds with a pete 389.

The same people that were pushing ethanol in everything have now changed their stance & decided it is more harmful as a whole. The problem is the program has been bought for billions & will not be undone. Am sure it is the same for trucks in terms of how to deal w/emissions.

The special interest groups/lobbyists need thrown out & spend the next ten years or so reviewing what actually works before another dime is spent by the gov't. Of course that is just wishful thinking at this point...
