OK Allow Me, I take your point on the state of the industry. The more I read here, the more I wonder if it's worth the payback.
I checked three web sites, actually went into the job application process at each site. Swift requires five years. Werner and CR England require three. So, they vary, but it looks like at least some stick to the legal minimum.
I'll repeat what I posted previously, which can also be found on the web sites:
Ten years history must be provided if you drove a CMV at any time during the previous ten years. If not, the legal requirement is three years.
How should I explain a long retirement?

Barndog; I have a situation similar to yours. I retired early (at 54) from an airline job where I spent 27 years. Due to their scam bankruptcy they were able to steal a majority of my pension so I need to work a few more years to retire again!! The work history just needs to go back to when I worked (retired in 2004) and any gaps can be verified by someone who knows you (this is only needed if a company wants a piece of paper for your file). With your work history and personal background you will have no problems. Good luck to you and keep a positive outlook.

Some doors may be slammed closed on you but many will open wide when they see your background of reliability and professionalism. Dependability is going to be a major plus for you. Cheers

You must provide a 10 year work history, but, only the previous 3 must be verified. However, I've worked at compnies that could not verify a certain previous employer and just made notations in my file. You gotta remember, companies go out of business or don't keep files past 5 years etc.

You've given me food for thought, and I thank you for that! -
All right...yammering about it gets me nowhere. Filled out an application, laid it right out...retired for the last ten years, also included two previous jobs that covered six years.
One way or another, I'm gonna get some answers... -

I figure if it ain't gonna fly, better to find out now than after I go sit in class for three months and spend twenty five hundred bucks.
