They dont really like more than a 1000watt.

    BUT...

If you get a GOOD kit, like one where the wires are size of a dime, and wire it up, you should be fine, only problem is the battery bank on the volvo;s is weak, and most trucks will not run non stop, so you might run into a power issue.

I bought a set of GOOD 10FT jumper-cables, and used that for the wires to make inverter wire kit.

YOu will want to solder the connectors for the battery hookup and you will also want an additional ground inside the truck close to the inverter.

Yeah, you bet the recruiter is hiding somethin'.

The move you just made will probably save you some grief in the months ahead. You're still out of a trucking job, but in the long run you'll be better off. Keep on looking and don't compromise. Your gut knows a hell of a lot. I always listened to mine and it never let me down.

Hey thanks for the reply, Yes I will be using welders cable in the o gauge wire which is about the thickness of your finger or thumb...it is quite large wire... I will most likely have it installed by someone who can hook it up properly in either series or parallel(sp)...thanks again :biggrin_25514:

Good luck! As you progress I'd be interested in hearing about any miscellaneous money deducted out of your check each week. I heard they have some BS deductions that you don'thear about until you start seeing your check. Locks, $40 ($280 total) a week for some kind of deposit?, etc.

    Keep us posted.

    Load locks $40 one time.

Reserve account is $240 or 280 and you get it back on leaving the company, but forefeit it in the event you abandon the truck.

some deduction for KINGPIN lock and Padlock...that one is crazy, like $80

and school is $100 every month, it confuses people because,
    1. Recruiter tells you "school is 23. a week but it is billled $100 once a month.

    2. Tuition comes out as $250....but then they reimburse you $150 on the same check, to screw your taxes....

$100.00 for a lock kit (king pin and padlock). $40.00 for 2 NEW loadlocks-- there might be used ones there but they are usually beat to crap. The $280 is a reserve account that is returned at the end of employment. All taken out of your check at $10.00 per item per week.:biggrin_25513:

Excuse me for being naive, but they want DRIVER to pay for locks to secure THEIR load? Is this normal practice for all companies?

And the $280...reserve account? What exactly is a reserve account? Sounds more like they might be trying to get an insurance deductible if a driver has an accident and hiding it as some miscellaneous bs.
