So, I am set to attend Western Pacific Truck School in January. I am a 26 year old male married with one baby. I have zero tickets, zero accidents, zero misdemeanors, zero felonies. My H-6 ten year print out is spotless. The only thing I think would hold me back from potential companies like Gordon, and Trans-System Inc. is my work history. I have had 7 jobs in the last three years. Only because when my uncles business closed down, I had to find work in the midst of this horrible economy. So I took crap job after crap job, finally got a tow truck job and mastered the double clutch. Now that I am set to attend school I quit the towing job, to focus 100% on Trucking. Now knowing this about me, what does everyone predict may be the outcome for me. I know Werner will hire me, that's a given... And I am considering them, but so worried that my DAC report will be destroyed when I leave them after one year to better my professional career for my family. I am willing to relocate, location is no problem for me.
School starting, suggestions please.

your work history should not hurt you. you MUST make sure you account for ALL your time, going back 10 years. i would suggest making a list of places you worked at, times, dates, job functions, phone numbers, etc, etc.
as for werner doing anything on your DAC, if you leave on GOOD terms, like GIVE A 2 week notice, and DO NOT DO any damage to the truck, etc, etc, you should be ok...
too bad you gave up the tow job, at least that WAS SOME money coming in.......while you go to school......THIS might hurt you financially right now..... -
So if I list every single job I have had in the past 10 years, which would go back to when I was 16. That is a lot of jobs.?
-
you have to go back 10 years........its a DOT requirement. -

That is 16 jobs, I mean It may benefit me to not list a few.. I hate being this way. But I feel I may have no choice. They can only check what you tell them.
-
You're not alone, I'm 25 and have worked since 2003 in which I've had 12 jobs. Mostly all call centers that outsourced and a few soda companies but the longest I've worked at 1 job is 14 months :/ Minimizing job hopping is one thing that I'm looking to improve on going forward in life. Luckily for me, so far it hasn't come back to bite me in the tail, but I'm not about to wait for it to either.

you MUST go back 10 years IN ORDER OF current job, job before that, job before that, job before that..........
why do you wish to be hard about understanding this FEDERAL REQUIREMENT...????
if you SKIP something in the time frame, you are lying on a document known as the JOB application, which CAN BE what gets you NO JOB... -
Also.....as you've mentioned I've also never listed "all" my jobs on any application and have never been turned down or questioned for a job, BUT none of those jobs involved the DOT, so now I wouldn't risk it. I had a habit if jumping jobs that were in the same field, just different companies. For example from Coke to Pepsi or from Chase to Verizon call centers in which I'd only put down the most reputable companies or ones that relate to the job. Not a risk I'm willing to take with the DOT, BUT take advantage of the "reason for leaving" box. Explanations such as needed different hours for school, needed full time, distance to travel, or other explanations have done wonders for me.

In the end I will most likely list everything, I am here discussing, to see what everyone else thinks. Now just to make sure that you follow every rule that exist in your state? If not I ask you the same question.
