Hi everybody
I took my CDL 3 month ago ..I search for job and Werner offer me a Job. I felt so happy I start the orientation after that they put me in Family dollar Account .. i feel more happy for that because its local " "
So they give me crappy truck all the tires bald and the truck is dirty that can't be clean if I tried. I talk with the safety manager in family dollar about that he told me that is my business so I handle it and I continue my orientation with FD " "
After i done i see the way that react with the driver over there and honestly i Can handle the Dirty truck and the Hard work if i was 24/7 But i cant Handle the dirty minded .. the all the Crew over there they were Nasty. any way I go to the Safety manager " " over there and i told him that i refuse to work for F D Company for safety reasons .. anyway i explain to him why .. from the reasons ' i refuse that u didn't care about my safety '
i back to Werner and they put me in Drivers Choice i ask them whats that mean no body have answer whats mean drivers choice .. I said it's OK it's not gonna be worse then Family Dollar .. and they give me OOOOOLDDDDD Classic Truck very old .. they told me don't worry this truck its already sold so u will use it for 1 week and thats it .. i drive it for 2 weeks .. so they lie !! Werner we Care We lie !! .. any way after that i ask for personal leave because i feel something is wrong with this company 'WERNER'
Now i received Invitation From Western Express to be in the Orientation on New-years eve
Anybody have any Idea ??? should i stay in Werner or i move to Western especially since i stayed with Werner for only 3 month
Anyone can advice pleaseeeeee because i don't have Any Help over here and this is the Only Forum that i know

Well Werner is one of the worst for caring about drivers.
Western Express isn't a whole lot better from what I understand. I guess that with just 3 months you have very limited options available to you.
If you stay with Werner you are going to get treated worse than you already have BECAUSE you stuck up for yourself and " rocked the boat". Most companies don't like that.
So if Western is offering you a gig I would probably take it but maybe just try to stay under the radar for at least a year and then look elsewhere.
Wish ya good luck driver. -
Anywhere you go you have to be patient. You're a new driver. They ain't gonna trust you with a new truck yet. You can't let stuff get to you in this business or the stress will get the best of you. Before you know it, one year will pass and things will get better. It's good to get the oldest truck they have. You'll get in a newer one quicker that way. If it has bald tires or such, write it up and make them fix it.

@Rocknroll nik
I never thought of it that way till you said it. I ticked them off good! Worse part is the second truck they gave me was even worse. I spent 4 nights without heat in 30 degrees and Bald tires again.
So, Western is a bit better choice? If just for the chance to have a "clean slate" at different company... right? -
By saying Bald tires, are you saying less than 4/32" on the steers and 2/32" on the non-steers? One quick report...and they should swap them out (Werner may not be known as great place, but they do know the DOT will fine them, or leave the truck parked due to violations, requiring an expensive roadside repair,,,)....if you have higher standards....then it is something else entirely...
Truck work for a living...like fishing boats...they wear out, get grimely...but as long as they run, they make you money. Heck..some of the older, pre-emissions trucks are much sought after due to HIGHER RELIABILITY!! Most fleets have run the miles up too high to keep these trucks as fleet trucks (most fleets seem to sell/terminate leases around 450,000- 800,000 miles depending on business plans).
Don't compare the condition to a car...ever see a car with 1 Million miles?
One tip...if you work for a NO-idle, NO tri-Pack company, get a -40 sleeping bag...and pretend you are doing winter camping!!
Just don't rock the boat..be safe, don't dray attention to yourself...just do your job. Companies don't want folks that they must talk to all the time...they just want it done. Do what you can...if it is legal, do it... -
thank you guys for the answers

Paying your "dues" sucks....
I did it with flying...and here I am also starting over again too! Some places are better than others...Just do your best, and In my last stint paying my dues in flying (flying boxes for a UPS feeder), making less that I will as a trucker in the first year no less, the difference between those who were miserable, and those who did fine and prospered were pure attitude most of the time. Don't dwell on the bad...Don't stress the stuff you can't change...as the FNG you will get the crap jobs, crap truck, etc...but keep a clean nose, and soon, you won't be so new anymore...heck, in 6 months at some companies, and you have quite a bit of seniority.
To put it in perspective...that "starter company" I flew for I stayed 6 years...swore I would leave in a year when I started....but it turned out OK...I'm hoping the same is true for the place I'm starting for now!!
Keep you spirits up...and remember, working is better than sitting on the Lazy-Boy looking for a job!! IMO anyway! -
I would just hang in there and deal with it until I got some time under my belt. Everyone seams to jump ship at some time, but by the time you keepjumping from one compay to the other you never end up with any consistancy. By that time no one will look at you. Hang in there and good luck!

Hey GOOBER! I drove a B Model Mack that had holes in the floor, 3 million miles and no air, would do 47 MPH loaded. It was 150 degrees in the summer and cold in the winter but I did my time and I didnt #####. If you want stuff fixed, make them fix it, not me. Take it through a DOT Inspection. They cant make you freeze , they have to let you get warm in the truck. Get over it.
