Yeap, lots of places to park. Just look at all the trucks lined up on off ramps along the big roads, or backed into field aproaches on the state roads in the dead of winter.
It is getting even better now that they are closing the pickle parks here in North Dakota. Not to mention that many of the smaller towns are putting up "No Truck Parking" signs on their city truck route streets.
A couple years ago I had to pull over in a town because of a winter storm that made visibility impossible. I limped into town using the rumble strips to stay on the road. I found a wide spot along the city truck route to pull over till the weather blew over. I was there for about 30 mins when the local LEO pulled up and said that I can't park there. There were no "No Parking" signs anywere. I asked him were I was supposed to go. He said anywere but there and mentioned that I can not leave the truck route. I said fine. After he left I locked the doors and crawled intot he sleeper. I left a note on the inside of the window with my bosses phone number. Talked to the boss the next day and I quess he did get a call and gave the LEO a peice of his mind. I quess there were going to send him a parking ticket and the boss said to go ahead and he would meet them in court. He never got the ticket. LOL

How is this hour break going to work on the electronic logs? will it violate you if it doesnt see it at a certain time?
-
What if there was no break or a 15 minute only during the day?
The fact that a hour break has now to be recorded and no driving more than 7 hours without a half hour break can and will add time. -
I'll have to read it again, I don't see where an hour break is required.
-
14 hour window is still there, but the driving time is limited to 13 hour. Which makes a break of 1 hour somewhere in the day. -
Yes, you can work as much as 13 hours and you have as many as 14 hours to do it. You don't have to use all 14 though.
-
When I did the relay runs to Chicago, I did them non stop. According to the rules now, I have to take a break and could not run a 11 hour driving day with a 14 hour window and the drops and hooks.
I can see where it could be a problem. -
Jeeze! Let people take breaks when they want to/need to!
Someone once said that beaurocratic insanity is the worst kind. This latest HOS nonsense proves it. -
go to www.safedriverhours.com it has a breakdown on the breaks. Then go to proposed rules.
Roadmedic Thanks this.
