A simple question, right? What's your answer?
I drive for Swift. Swift was the path of least resistance. Many (most) of the training carriers do not hire from my area.
So far, I'm okay with my decision. How about you?

I went with Watkins Shepard because they DIDN'T have a driver trainer program and they had the least amount of negative posts on the internet of all the companies I researched...

I drive for JB Hunt...
Why? Because I enjoy getting screwed & not making money! -
If I leave Swift after a year, and if I don't hook up with a solid, smaller carrier with good bennies, I'll be looking hard at WS. Roxy (I believe that's her name) told me to apply once I had some experience and it wouldn't matter where I live. Good luck to you! -
I am headed to Swift for the following reasons:
1) Adequate, but not too long of a training program and decent pay during training.
2) Acceptable pay for newbies (same or better than the rest of 'em)
3) Most Swift drivers I have heard about are getting decent miles.JustSonny Thanks this. -
"I drive for JB Hunt..." (NO YOU DON'T!)
"I enjoy getting screwed ..." (YES YOU DO!)
"I enjoy getting screwed & not making money..." (You need to enroll in Lotlizardry 101!) -
Is it just the cold or are lot lizards like Bigfoot, I've never seen one...Not that I want one, but I've never seen one...

Feel fortunate, Walstib. I saw one, and I swear the poor thing fell out of the ugly tree, hit every branch on the way down, and when she/it hit the ground, the darned tree fell on her!

Good luck! -
I went with Superior Carriers 3 years ago for numerous reasons.
1. The trainer was one on one in the jump seat. No team driving
2. I stayed in hotels when we were OTR and that was for only one week.
3. 3 month training time most of it local staying at home. I did spend 3 weeks in Kingsport staying in a hotel training with the local guys there.
4. Pay was better. $500/ week during training. .34 empty .43 loaded plus hourly accessory pay as soon as I was solo.
5. No need to look for a better company after a year since I started with a second tier company from day 1.
