It is possible, but whether they get it or not is a different story. Here goes:
Christmas season is always tight for trucks because many of us like to go home and be with family. Since it's not really my holiday anyway, I choose to stay out and pick up some of the slack.
I am right this minute sitting in the driveway of a consignee for whom I was told via load assignment to deliver 12/26 06:00 until 12/26 23:59. (That would be today.) I currently have a preplan to pick up 15 minutes ago.
I arrived at 06:28. Security said they do not accept dropped loads on Sundays and they would be more than happy to accept tomorrow beginning at 06:00. So here's the conversation thus far:
Me:
ECT: Load refused by Xxxx Xxxxx Security because warehouse is closed. Will not accept until 1227 0600. Thx.
ECT (Night/Weekend Dispatch) :
Stand by will message CSR.
(14 minutes later)
According to CSR they open at 2359 tonight so you can delivery (sic) it then.
Me:
ECT: I'm supposed to be checking in to pick up at 0700 going to Fargo for the 28th. Mr. Xxxxx was very clear they would not be opening until 0600.
Y'all are asking me to lose an entire day of productivity during a time you are short on trucks to sit for 24 hours under this without compensation. Do I have that about right?
ECT:
I messaged CSR.
Me: (06:57)
ECT: Plz also let CSR know I will not make XX pickup on time. Thx.
No reply yet. We'll see what happens next.
And no, I don't want to hear a bunch of fecal matter from people who don't even work for or with Swift. The purpose of this thread is purely instructional so other Swift folks can learn how to talk to them. Everything has to go through ECT. There is no direct contact with the CSRs.

ECT? CSR? these = to dispatch and planners at Swift?
-
ECT is the abbreviation for night and weekend Driver Managers. I don't know exactly what ECT stands for. Maybe a fellow Swifty can chime in on this. These are the office folks who deal with the drivers.
CSR: Customer Service Representative. These are the office folks who deal with our customers.Tapeworm, The Challenger, just lil me and 1 other person Thank this. -

Just received instruction to T-call at Lancaster. (That means drop the load in the yard just south of Dallas.)
just lil me Thanks this. -
I've been there and done that many times over the years Injun. Two words..it blows. Hope you get it dropped and gone.

Every time I read stories like this it makes me thankful that I can directly contact
customers myself..Brickman Thanks this. -
its my understanding that CSR is a swift employee. They are the ones who deal directly with the customer on Swift's behalf. they know all the rules for the customer, whether we can drop early, etc...whether we can move up a delivery appt. etc.
Yes it does suck that we dont/cant talk to them directly, cause half the time they dont have a clue what we do on our end. I was going to say, be prepaired to t-call the load or head to a truck stop to wait till tomorrow.
my biggest beef with the planner and CSRs is that they are like weathermen. they can be wrong 75% of the time, but still keep their jobs. Loads that say are preloaded or drop loads thrn out, once you get there, they are live loads or unloads. Sometimes you get to a final, given a 6 hr window, only to find out they take you by appt. only....and since you dont have one, you have to leave and come back. If truck drivers were accurate only half the time, we get a service failure. so why cant swift put into place, something for planners/CSRs as a form of 'punishment' like a service failure.
glad to see you're rollin'. hope they dont take that preplan off ya now....SheepDog Thanks this. -
Preplan is intact and I actually have an empty attached to the truck for the next load. No, I don't have to chase all over Heck and Creation to find it. It's right here in the yard.
Looks like I'm stuck on nights a little longer. I was kind of hoping to get back on the daylight schedule so I could avoid the Living Dead easier. This next load has an extra drop and I have exactly the right amount of time to get a 10, run it, pull another 10 and run the rest of it.
I guess the planner decided it would be better to pull me off that load than haveto pay me $240 to wash my clothes and sleep...not to mention the loss of someone who can run this next one.Texas-Nana and Wyldfyur Thank this.
