I joined in 2008. This year I needed new drive tires.
Using the Wingfoot fleet discount saved me almost $450. That was
like getting more than 1 tire for free.
Each year at Dec I renew for 2+ years under the $25/promo.

Are there any "perks" for those of us who are company drivers when joining?
-
One thing comes to mind:
You get Landline Magazine monthly for free.
That is a great magazine to keep up on things in the industry..
...Several discounts even on things like Sprint Cellular.... -
What everyone else (except frdr) said.
I joined in 1994. I'm a Lifetime member. Land Line magazine alone is worth the price of admission; I've found no better source for trucking industry news and analysis, legislative updates, maintenance tips, and business information. Through attorneys and lobbyists, OOIDA gives drivers a voice in Washington and in the courts. Hey, PATT, CRASH, and Public Citizen don't represent us, do they? Neither does the ATA.
Through OOIDA, I participated as a plaintiff in two trucking-related lawsuits. OOIDA picked up the legal tab. I'm prohibited by a settlement agreement from disclosing the details.
Check out OOIDA on the air: http://www.landline.now. BTW, there's a button for a free Land Line subscription at the bottom of that web page.
Want a test drive? Your first-year membership will cost you just $25 with a member's membership number. Use mine: 180293. Company drivers are welcome (your perk is that you learn about the industry; no one trashes you just because you're company drivers. You deliver the goods just like owner-operators do. Many company drivers become owner-operators sooner or later.). And by all means, visit http://www.ooida.com.mattp Thanks this. -
From everything I see and hear, they are a great resource for the driver. Heck, I go the Landline everyday to keep myself informed. If I was a O/O or get on the other side of the fence, I know what I will be signing up for. They seem like a top notch organization.

They should give me the lifetime membership since I posted many of their articles. (At least for a discount)
HEAVY DUDE and bullhaulerswife Thank this. -
I have been a member for many years. They are the closest thing to a trade association that drivers and owner operators have in this industry. There are a number of small fleet owners who belong to OODIA as well as owner operators and drivers. There are also some who are not drivers who join. OODIA is a good resource for drivers and owner operators. It is an inexpensive way to stay informed about what is going on in this industry. I think that there are currently about 160,000 members. No matter what you need to know, there is someone at OODIA who can usually help you. They also have their own forum for members. They are the only voice we have that can fight for our interests in Washington and at the state level. They have been involved in every hos change and fought to see that our voices are heard. If you join certain times of year the annual fee is only $25. I will pay mine in January to get the discount.

Well worth it. Like others, I save on their loadboard, Members Edge, which is the exact same as Truckers Edge. I also save on Prepass as well. I've not even scratched the surface of all the benefits and support they offer.
-

Hope there not picky though...

If they let me in the door, they'll take ya!
