And whats left of the $2,500.00 after wages , insurance , truck repair , maint fund ?

 

I'm always interested in the true numbers and what each O/O's opinion of what is a net revenue. Personally, I take everything out of the gross before I call it net - insurance, payments, phone, internet, tolls, repairs, maintenance, food, hotels, fines - all of it. I estimate my year's mileage then divide it by all the estimated costs. To me all miles cost the same - loaded or empty. Right now my cost is $1.05 per mile, plus or minus a few cents. So when I say I net $1500 or $2,000 a week that's the real number.

 

I don't keep track of cost per mile on a day to day basis. I subtract the price of the fuel per load to get "TTT after fuel" My goal is $1000.00 per day sit'n in the seat, after fuel is paid. I do figure a cost per mile/ profit per mile on a yearly basis, however I don't whip the calculator out on every load.

 

I am trying to get into Landstar but seems I cant get my HAZMAT does anyone know how I can get in? I took the HAZMAT test, I took the fingerprints, sent in all my papers, but the TSA has not responded after calling many many times only getting no where... theres no way to talk to anyone and I've tried email and remailing for a response but nothing???? its been over 10 months??? I want to get into Landstar and truly I dont even care to run HAZ. The dumb lady (sorry) =0) at the place says I need Hazmat period...I dont know what else to do. I heard you can run with landstar with your fingerprints but you have 60 days whatever to get your hazmat...If I just tried getting my fingerprints again and signed on what if i had the same issue would they really let me go?

 

I would run for landstar but i dont have hazmat and will never get it. So for now i just haul there loads as a O/O it pays the same

 

I would get finger printed again, who knows maybe they got lost in the system.

 

Don't fool yourself about it pays the same. This has been discussed before and you can make money on the broker side but, the money ain't the same.

 

No,it does not pay the same.Landstar keeps 17% of every load.Landstar would rather broker out the freight than give it to their own trucks.They clear more off it.Look around you,you don't see no where near the landstar trucks as you did 2 or 3 yrs.ago.In order to make a good wage at landstar you have to be in the click.Most of the loads on their board don't really exsist.Their agents will tell you "you have to pay your dues"to get good freight.They are not what they claim to be.

 

They are a trucking company who pays a % of every load. My settlement every week confirms this.

 

I APPLIED FOR THE HAZMAT ENDORSEMENT BUT I STILL CANT GET A RESPONSE BACK?? ITS BEEN 8 MONTHS..I'VE CALLED, EMAILED EVERYTHING I KNOW OF...THEY SAI I CAN FOR 6 MONTHS TILL THEY RESPOND BUT WILL THEY FIRE ME IF I NEVER GET IT TRULY...I DONT EVEN CARE TO RUN HAZMAT ANYHOW? ANY HELP/ADVICE? THanks
