Wait... So you can drive 8hrs to a shipper.. skip to line 4 for 14, 15, 16, 20 hrs, then go back to line 3 and finish driving for 3 hrs to get the total of 11 in, or maybe make that 10.99 hrs(so you dont use the full 70, and have to do a restart), and then take a 10hr break? Am I following you correctly, or am I a #######? lol! The line 4 still counts against the 70 though correct? so depending upon how many hrs you mess around on line 4 you can eat up the weekly 70 time and have to do a restart. right? -
Sure wished you could define "old timers"
Because the ones I know(am one) and those you "spoke to"
would never line up as one and the same on this earth.
Like they said "Try and get loaded" recover the freight and let them worry about a re'power or letting your sacred book catch up.
Few more years down the road and you'll have hopefully "learned"
to work the gray area.

No, that's not what he said. You can be on line 4 as long as you want to. The log book as it is right now does not stop you from working. It stops you from driving. So...if you have driven 8 hours, then work 7 hours, you need to stay put for a 10 before driving.
DickJones Thanks this. -
Dumb Rookie ? well you said it not me
Why are you so scared of what has yet to confront you ?
If you dont understand, then say so outright
Acouple more years out here and you will regret ever making this post

Oh ####.. I getcha now.. You can be on duty not driving for however long... I got the 14 hrs from my trash truck driving days! Stupid me.... Sorry... I better understand now.. You can drive for 11 hrs, and be on duty not driving for unlimited hrs, but from the time coming On duty non driving( for pre trip) you basically only sit on duty not driving for up to 14 hrs(3 really after 11 driving) because you'll be at the 14 hour duty cycle time..
I getcha now.. ima #######. -
thats what the "paper book" says
The book doesnt sit in the seat
-
the key word is DRIVE...the time you use Line 4 will accrue against your 70 in 8 days, the 14 hour clock can restrict driving time, if you waste time on Line 4 within the 14 hour clock, you are stealing time away from driving.
Confused yet? We could try and help you understand the "split sleeper" rule...I need more rum for that one! -
LOL! I understand now.... when I was a garbage driver, and they'd never let us be on duty past 14hrs.. now I know/remember why is because anything over that and we wouldnt be able to complete the full M-F week...

Besides I like to argue...especially with a good HOT BUTTERED RUM in my hands!
CHEERS!CondoCruiser Thanks this.
