I wouldn't give up my Rand for a box of Cobras.
Beer Runner, my best guess from "what you have been reading" is a very active Rand thread. Lots of interest lots of input, lots of folks running these units. Cobra on the other hand, much less activity, very little reading, and much less interest...
I know its hard to disseminate issues from non issues when reading about these units on this board, but most of the negatives you've read are really non issues regarding the Rand, that and the fact many of them are self induced by the user.
Either way, you're going to get a huge step up from a basic auto unit. Enjoy. -
Look I have had a Magellan Maestro 3250 for over 3 years now and never updated the thing yet. It works fine just the way it is. I payed $150 for it and can't complain about it. But it's made for a car not a truck. Now if I have to pay $500 for a truck GPS I want it to work right. I don't want it acting like a car GPS. I want it do what I need it to do, and take some of the work from my hands. All I want to know is which is the better one of the 2. That's it. I recommend the Magellan to anyone driving a car, it will never get you lost. Excellent product.
