Gettin Tired Of The Lazy Don't Give a Crap Bums

Wouldn't it make more sense if the company gave the fine amount to the driver that was inconvenienced by the messed up trailer then the company getting the money?. (GOOD IDEA)

 

and sooner or later it will happen where THEY ARE the next guy. then they'll be on message boards like this cryin' about drivers not doing their job. (not directed at the OP....i'm just sayin')

i'm all for assessing a fine for the driver of say $50. I'd actually go as far as make it a step-ladder fine format. first offense would cost you $25. then $50...then $75...then $100, then $150, then $200. After while you'll have two things happening.

1) drivers get a fine or two, and they'll REALLY start paying attention to their trailers that they drop, helping to clear up this problem...

and 2) if it were me....knowing that i could catch a trailer with a problem that the DOT could place the trailer OOS, and knowing if said problem was a result of the previous driver saying they did a post trip on the trailer, when they didn't, and knowing that the fine could be as high as $100 or 200.....then i'm REALLY going to be looking a trailer over.......

again......helping clear up this problem.

and lets not forget about if a driver gets fined, they also get a log violation. enough of those, and they'll get to visit the unemployment line.....and yet again.....helping to clear up this problem.

 

that is what i mentioned when i talked about this a while back. the company wouldn't get to keep it. kind of like how if you drop a company truck off (or a lease truck for that matter) and you dont clean it out, the driver exiting the truck gets charged $50 to get it cleaned. Now, if i was the driver who had to clean it out (cause i didnt want to drive in someone elses filth) i'd expect to get paid that $50 cause i did the job of cleaning it.

 

Ahh, at my company, I ALWAYS get a good trailer. Because I always have the SAME trailer.

I love my job.

 

where do you work? maybe i need to come there, lease a truck and become a mentor. =)

 

other cpompanies actually pay the drivers to clean the trailer out after each load--not sure what happens if you dont do it--i suppose if you pick it and clean it you would get paid
if you drop a trailer need ing work--you should get written up--being fined--hmmm sounds like a communist thing to me--why not just shoot the driver --or send him to siberia

ok what your saying if you picked up a trailer and had to sweep it out you want $50 to clean it out, but if i do my job everytime when i drop my trailer and sweep it out, I wouldn't get paid $50 to do it. Now I know its my job to do a post trip but i dont think its fair for us to both do the same job of cleaning out a trailer and you get paid $50 and me nothing. There's got to be a better plan to benifit everybody that does their job with that money.

 

Some folks don't understand writeups. 'Course, they'd cry about anything that makes them look bad or inconveniences them. My broom broke this last week. So I was up in that trailer with the brush part doing the best I could to clean it up anyway. Along comes the yard jockey and tells me don't worry about it the dock guys will get it. I finished up anyway because I hate leavig a job unfinished. Again, there was trash and dirt in it from who knows how many loads.

I carried a load of swimming pool chemicals and some of the powder spilled onto the floor of the trailer. It went to Blue Beacon and got a complete washout at Swift's expense. It only takes a couple of hours to dry with the doors open and I was sitting anyway.

Point is, we haul people's food in these trailers. Food that ends up on our own tables in front of our own families. Do you want what was hauled in there last to be on your family's dinner? Do you really? Our lazy-butt fellow drivers don't seem to care about this.

 

i went to pick up a preloaded trailer--was a reefer but supposed to be loaded with furniture---not sure what was hauled in there last--goats maybe--seriously --it had about 6 inches of straw and even some manure mixed in--the shipper didnt find the humour in this--but they did clean it out and load it----needless to say i was embarresed as hell by the situation

 

So, if you shoot the driver, would you just throw the body back in the trailer??????
