There is nothing in CSA2010 about weight.

    Too many incidences of what?

There is a ton of erronious information out there pertaining to CSA2010 so I'm just curious what you think is going to disqualify all these drivers as soon as it "goes into effect".

Your right about that i guess. I'm only about 170 to 175lbs. So I haven't had to do any research about the over weight issue. Several of the overweight guys I've talked to, must have given me some bad info.
But then again, if the CSA has more restrictions on the physical, overweight guys are proned to having more physical problems...

    Too many CSA points.

    Again, their point system

Nothing about physicals in CSA2010. Nothing. It is a replacement for the safer system nothing more. It is "in effect", it is a data collection process. The data is being accumulated now.

Don't like point's don't break the law. Pretty simple plan huh. Drivers incapable of making a living inside of the rules will probably find employment hard to find, but CSA2010 has no authority or power to remove you from the road. Companies that prefer safe, compliant, competent drivers can exclude drivers who are none of those but they can do that now.

Making a boogeyman up may be a popular past time, but does little to address reality.

Big brother IS watching you.He always has been.I would be too if it were my equipment you're pulling around the U.S.

I have a couple of freinds that are real happy with LANDSTAR.They own thy're own trailers though too. They have a spread axle flatbed and a real nice 53 foot drybox with extra doors on the side for city deliveries..

excerpt: " Truck drivers, however, were coded less frequently for both driving performance errors and non-performance problems (e.g., asleep, sick, incapacitated) than passenger vehicle drivers. In crashes between trucks and passenger vehicles, driving too fast for conditions and fatigue were important factors cited for both drivers. However, fatigue was coded twice as often for passenger vehicle drivers, and speeding more often for truck drivers." end quote

This was extracted from the USDOT web site http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/facts-research/research-technology/report/ltccs-2006.htm#TABLE3

The DOT admits (1)crashes with fatalities were results of 4 wheelers (duh, considering the increase in automobiles on the road today compared to 20 years ago.) (2) Trucks pulling semi-trailors were involved in a higher percent of accidents resulting in injury or death. (3) Causes were evaluated and drivers of 4 wheelers were found 2 to 1 over truckers for being distracted or tired and the cause of crash.

Results from surveys in 2001 to 2003 in 17 states

Drivers, the best way to be safe out here watch out for four wheelers!

i know how you feel driver. I would have to say don t be too quick to judge your company. I bet it has something to do with money and a better deal on ins, or something along those lines. They are probably doing what they have to do to survive just like the rest of us. :biggrin_2557:

Aparently your either a company driver with little experience or your not a truck driver at all.

Only a handful of drivers go down the road with something wrong and don't worry about fixing what ever is wrong.. As a matter of fact, alot of company drivers look for something wrong, just so they can shut down for a while longer..

I don't know any O/O that purposely runs with faulty equiptment without planning on fixing what ever is wrong at their first chance. Most things go wrong during your driving shift. Like most light blow out, when they are turned on.. You can do a pretrip that morning, and all lights work.. When the evening hits, and you turn them on again, & one goes out, are you supposed to pull over and call road service... After all it is illegal to drive down the road with a light that doesn't work.

Do tires blow out while your on your 10 hour break? Do air lines suddenly go out while your parked? (maybe a few) Most of the time, they blow when you press on the breaks or turn sharp. Which means, you have to be rolling...

Have a blow out going down the road, and get pulled over before you can make it to the tire shop, and BAM, you've got points... Does that make you a law breaker? Or just a working class joe?

The CSA isn't something that's going to make the roads safer. It's just something that's going to put thousands of truck drivers in the unemployment line, and alot of money into the DOT's pockets...

If it was about safety, there would be more restrictions on 4 wheelers. Because after all, they cause thousands of more deaths and injuries than truckers.
