The people have elected some of those whom you deem liars repeatedly.

I know, doesn't say much for the people does it?...Some like being lied to over and over again even after they see that they never do what they say to get elected on...

None of this changes the fact those elected officials have done more to hurt our great country than all the terrorists in history together...

I got pulled in at the coops in Iowa about 7 years ago. I got a level 1 inspection, when he couldn't find anything wrong with the truck he started on the log book. I had loaded the night before up in WI. He ask me where I loaded and what time I loaded, I thought this odd sense it was right in front of him in my logbook. I told him I loaded at such and such time and place then the fun began. He ask where I fueled last, I pointed too my logbook and told him what ever that book says is where I fueled last. He said he knew that but wanted me to tell him. I said "let me see the logbook and I'll read it too you word for word". He then said "if you want to be like that then go get your receipt". To which I retorted I had already turned it in with my last trip envelope. We went round and round with this for about 15 minutes untill he realized that arguing with me was like wrestling a pig in the mud. The more he argued the better I liked it. He finely filled out my inspection and sent me on my way.

Now I never keep any receipts in plain view or in with my logs or bills. I have always done it this way. What they can't see can't hurt me. If they ask for more then logs and bills, I tell them I have already turned them in. I try and run pretty much legal but why tempt fate. If I get stopped in Iowa and asked for my rewards card I will just tell him I don't have one. There is no law that says you have to incriminate yourself. Remember it is in how you argue. I can tell you to go "f" yourself with a smile on my face and you will sat ok thank you. Atleast that's what my friends tell me......

OHTW: I was searching for the right word and avoiding the term "nation" because that we most certainly are not.

We were originally established as a Constitutional Republic. You will only receive agreement from me on that point. However, with ratification of the 16th (income tax) and 17th (Senators elected by popular vote rather than chosen by legislatures) the States were stripped of their power, in effect abolishing the Republic and replacing it with a Federation. Thus, we have a Federal income tax, not a Republican one.

Gee, which side voted to have the amendment added to the constitution.

    I bet it was both.

I fueled this morning before I left Georgia. Without looking at my log (DDL) I couldn't tell you what time it was. I also stopped for about 45 minutes to eat lunch in Alabama... couldn't tell you what time that was either.

I click my duty status on the screen--I don't pay any attention to what the actual time is. As long as I'm not in the red, I'm good to go.

Jesus, I really want a trip to Iowa bad now... just to screw with the DOT there. All my #### is tight... I wouldn't mind wasting some of their time.

    G/Man,

They don't need any reason to pull you over & check out you, your paperwork or the fitness of your truck. If they feel like it they will do it.

Had a Texas DPS DOT truck with 2 troopers in it pull me over the other day. I wasn't speeding when I came up behind them, left plenty of room between us when I used my blinker to move over to the left lane & passed them doing the speed limit, gave plenty of room before turning my blinker on for several seconds before moving clearly back into the lane they were in. All lights working, no moving violations, truck clean, no smoke belching out of the stacks.

No sooner had I passed them & they lit up the red & blues & pulled me over.

They looked over my log, truck paperwork, BOL & looked at but didn't run my license. Asked some b.s. questions, who put all the lights & chrome on the truck, is it my truck or company truck, am I the regular driver, how long have I been with the company. Crap like that, don't know what any of it had to do with anything but was polite & cooperative & answered the questions.

They never looked closely at anything on the truck & in my opinion never really looked closely at me. Don't think they really had a legitimate reason for pulling me over but evidently my demeanor didn't give them cause for alarm or suspicion to dig deeper.

Think it was a bogus stop though.

The government rarely acts but usually reacts. And more often then not over reacts.(The Patriot Act) Why do you think the police now wear military BDU's instead of the professional looking uniform of yesterday? It is all about the intimidation factor. I personally know more than a few cops. Most of whom would be more then happy if the Constitution only applied when it was convenient too them. Most of them would love the power to pull you over for anything or nothing at all. Most would love the power to search you, your vehicle, your home, and your personal effects at will. If it where up to most cops we would live in a police state. (no pun intended)

It's because you fit the profile as a terrorist. Everyone knows truck drivers are terrorists, waiting to kill innocent civilians at the drop of a hat.

Or maybe they thought they had you for DWM... driving a shiny truck with chrome in Texas.. you could have been.
