Depends on what motivates your move. But your comment about not knowing if you can handle being out 5-6 weeks tells me you better do some serious thinking before making a move.
As for a lease? If you want to make it work, be prepared to be out a lot during your first year.
Depending on where you live, you might be able to sneak in more one day visits, but don't count on it.
First year on a lease...you need to run a lot so you can learn the system.
I'm a L/O now and get home about as much as I did as a company driver, however, my family is grown. I sometimes get to pass thru town and stop for the night to see my wife. However, we've been married 42 years so we get tired of each other more easily :biggrin_25523:
My five kids and their families are spread around, so I get by to see them as I pass thru.
If you're looking for home time with young kids, you better start looking for a local gig.
I know I did when my kids were growing up. Came off the road and took a job dragging a dairy tanker around. Home 6 nights per week.
    Good luck.

I have dropped early at kraft dry in ontario...it is the wet one that is always live unload. Dry is pull in, drop, and hope they have an empty. Get there before the locals snag all the empties.

Took all day to get loaded in Sugar city...pulled out as the sun was setting, so I took the shortest safest route I could, as the route I wanted to take had black ice advisory as the sun set. And it is a good road, just a two lane. So I ran south on i15 to US 30. Hit freezing fog, and some ice, but pulled into Little america, and called it a night. CSR moved my appointment in ohio to friday.

So far in my readings I have found 2 companies that would fit. Just gotta remember some small jobs i did for temp agencies and one scam job i thought was a legit call center. The companies are Stevens and Prime. Tough decision, I'll keep reading both. I already have medical so that's not a problem, It's hometime, Vaca, dental that will make the difference.

Navy.....I am feeling the exact same way. I have pre-Hires with Prime and Stevens, still in the air about which bus ticket I'm gonna take though. Prime's big selling point (for me) is the pay while in training. I've got 3 weeks to decide for sure !!!

I am finally finished with all my training, 36days first trainer, he was an awesome trainer. 20 days with the finishing trainer, he needs a new job training he is not good at, came in one day early went with a local guy and had a good time he showed me a few different things about backing. Now its home time for a week than I get back for grad class. I still think i have done a good thing by going with Stevens. I haven't had to many bad things happen while here. They are a good training company that is for sure.
