I posted about a month ago regrading my TND 500, missing a turn at Maryland "Pilot" stop . Well I just returned and the 500 did work fine this time. Perhaps these GPS units need some time to dial in when new.
I like the unit's features and am about to go cross country. The one feature I would like to have available is a "Primary Interstate/highway mode" that would censor all "country roads ".

    Thanks---Suitor

    Are you copying Microsh!t policy?:biggrin_25523:

When I need to depend on an operating system there are bulletproof systems freebsd, as400...

In my previous life I was a Sys Admin
When equipment failed under warranty a new part or system was sent to us overnight with a return rma.
Not me wait till you recieve it and then send it back to me.
You first ask for serial and proof of purchase, so you know its covered under warranty, send a replacement first, and make your customer service #1

And most of our laptops failed because virus/malware

At the moment I am using a six year old laptop...

actually after reading this thread i decided to purchase a rand. it shows me the company is dedicated to providing top notch support for its product. you can post and within 24 hours usually less get a response from mark. i have owned many computers over my life and ever time i call "tech support" i get someone that doesnt speak english and is trying to "help" me by reading from a book or googling the answers ive already tried.

i have called mark to fix my gpd unit. was on the phone with him for over a hour i think it was. plus many many emails. that is not part of his job duties but yet he does it. that is top notch in my book. if more companies had people that did that then this world would be a better place.

Question on TND 500/T5E.Will the unit show the reason for a routing because of an obstacle alert. My example: In Chapel Hill,NC on 15-501 SB a 13'2" overpass as listed in RM atlas. I tested in my car and was routed around the obstacle. I drove under the overpass and about 50ft past the obstacle I received an alert to a violation. Can I see why I am being routed in a particular manner or do I have to go with the route blindly. I also have a Garmin 1450 that I use to get a better view of the surrounding roadways. By the way the overpass is arch shaped and a truck can pass under in the left lane. Great site.

Well, I have been Mcnalleyd once again, this time coming thru Alabama headed to Macon Ga. I set my fuel stop up at a T/A and low and behold this thing routed me thru a trailer park and down side streets like i was driving an ice cream truck? just dont get it anymore. On another note each time I asked for a IN ROUTE stop it would take me off route to get there? and half of the roads in Alabama the unit cant seem to find, or it will be a 4 lane highway and acording to the GPS im driving off in the cornfield while the road is next to me? I am not impressed with this unit at all, way too many issues and should of never been trucker approved. Whats the sense of spending money and having to update every week to keep it working in half way legit? any input from the beta tester would be great, by the way is the beta tester a driver?

Rand ought to stick to making maps & leave the GPSs to the experts!

This product with this many bugs would be in an Alpha/Beta state.
The terms alpha and beta refer to releases of software that are typically not ready for commercial use. Alpha refers to the very early release, which is typically very buggy and only released to few people internal to the organization. It is helpful, in development, to get feedback very quickly from the hacker community, or potential customers with the beta version.
If it was the final version it would not need this much support!

Yesterday and today I was off in Brooklyn, NY and Bronx, NY and the Rand GPS worked amazing and flawlessly. It was a huge stress relief and help. Thank you for developing a great product. For anyone wondering if its any good in the northeast or NYC yes it is. Worth every penny to have it up there.

how long have you owned your computer? its not a "final" version either. windows releases a update every tuesday like clockwork. programming is never done. there are always bugs, holes, stuff that can be improved upon. all in all i think rand does a very good job of updating and using the feedback from the users.

Really you think these issues people are having driving a 80lb 53ft truck are acceptable? what do you drive a yugo? this unit was said to be trucker approved? who was the trucker who approved it? maybe a pick-up trucker but that is it. Mistakes that i have read on here relating to this units navagation inability are unacceptable. Updates really, or lets see i wanna change my voice to a woman, nice update there? hey lets add a back to map icon on the next screen, wow!!! heres one we have fixed a bug issue pertaining to logs ahhhhh who cares. How about you fix the navigation problems and stop worring about weather or not to add a wall mart quick stop or have flames behind your truck icon. This unit should be pulled like a toyota gas pedal. this unit is no diffrent than a 80 dollar garmin u can buy at wall mart.
