OK folks I'm starting fresh this year with Knight. I spent 2010 with MVT & if you research my threads...you'll discover I was honest & didn't paint them with a wide negative brush. Like Knight they're OTR, but their system & policies didn't work for me. No need to bash because we didn't fit. My wife tells me I'm an adult now, so I moved forward in the direction I believe will make my experiences positive for me.
None the less I've started with Knight & if this thread doesn't get hijacked, on a regular basis I'll document & post my real life story. I'll include documentation to keep it real & factual.
So to begin with I hit orientation this week. I'm an optimist by nature, but I look closely at what is being said or done. I draw my conclusions from fact. With that side note out of the way, I can say thus far I'm very pleased. From the terminal, orientation itself, personally interviewing the folks in the cog that will effect me & my production, to the motel I'm staying in.
So as the day's & weeks progress I'll keep you informed from the equipment, terminals, miles, & all things else I read on here that were butchered by a lot that have an axe to grind. Mind you I'm not dumping all the negative posters into that last sentence, but I've learned over the years folks tend to beat the loudest drum when the have nothing good to say. Most that are happy are to busy being that & moving forward being positive in other areas of there life.
Take what I say with a grain of salt, but it'll only be the truth from the seat I sit. PM me if you have direct questions you need answered in privacy.
Until the next page is written....

I look forward to an honest appraisal of the company. I'm thinking I'd like to go W & S, but Knight is going to be my second choice if the primary doesn't want me.

Wish you good luck on your start to the New Year. I would be mostly interested in the different terminals. Alot of what I have read is that a driver will bounce from one terminal to another, depending of the area that he is in, so this means a different DM as he moves accross the country.

Good luck.
What terminal will you be based out of? -
Also this company utilizes the elogs. No it doesn't intimidate me. No I'm not worried my miles will drop. I'm looking forward to the planners finally doing there job completely, instead of them relying on me working 16-18 hours some days trying to deliver a load that's way behind schedule or already late. -
Are you doing the dry van or the refrigerated trailers?

I had a friend who worked for Knight a few years ago and their experience was less than stellar. It started out great but spiraled downward. One of the things she told me was that they now required all drivers to park their truck at the terminal they were based out of so the trucks could be slip-seated while they were on their home time. Problems with dispatch that had to be escalated to the terminal manager, etc.
Of course this was 2 years ago so maybe things have changed. She was based out of their AL terminal.
I'm hoping things have turned around for the better. -
1026,
Did they tell drivers this regarding leaving their truck at the terminal in reference to home time: No more than 3 days off or they will slip seat your truck.I will be following this thread as I may head to Knight. Good luck and let us know details on your orientation; road test, physical, videos etc..

1026, if possible, can you find out about the Columbus, OH terminal, and where most of their running is. I am looking to get out of the NE and E and most of the SE. Want to stay west of Columbus most of the time. Also curious about the slip seating if the truck is parked at the terminal. Thanks

Good luck and be safe.
