YRC is made up of many different companies. Yellow, Roadway, New Penn, Holland, Reddaway, and Glen Moore. Glen Moore is their tl company while the others are their LTL companies ( national and regionals ). I worked for Reddaway out here on the west coast for 12 years ( 1998-2010 ). The past 2 years YRC has been in financial distress but seems to have 9 lives but they're running out of lives quickly. I would be very careful with the 15% paycuts, no retirement benefits, and heath benefits going backwards. I dont know what would happen to Glen Moore if YRC ( the parent company ) shut down. Just be careful and you may wanna ask that question before making your decision.

Yeah GM is a YRC ... TL div but it is the non- union end of YRC

Your health bennies may suffer if the union ends of YRC finally fall
But the pay cuts I'm not sure about ... Since GM is not a part of the union I would think they would also not be part of any pay concessions

    But

    Health
    401k
    Retirement
Might be linked I would dif ask before I jumped on board there

I heard some rumblings about 1-2 yrs ago gleenmoore was the YRC union buster
Not sure if any truth to it

But I'm sure the teamsters will eventually be out of YRC
    In time

Most of Reddaway is Non Union and we all got the same as the Union Guys. Reddaway's teamsters still havent take the 15% pay-cut. They voted it down 3 times.

GM's pay, health benefits, and pension have NOTHING to do with any other YRCW union companies mentioned above. The health and pension benefits of the union companies are obtained through Teamster administered programs for Teamsters only. I work for one of their union divisions. As far as any pay cuts, I don't beleive they have happened at GM due to their pay structure being lower to begin with. If there ever were pay cuts, they would be imposed on the GM drivers, they have no say or vote in the matter, but I really don't believe it would happen.

One other thing -and I have only heard this and not verified- I believe GM drivers have to pay part of their health insurance premium. Hopefully you can get a GM driver to comment on here.

I'm sure you can get more info at their website or calling their 800 number for info. Good luck in your search!

yeah, they paraded it around like it was some big organizing victory, "first truckload carrier organized in decades", i think was the headline. i started snooping around and it turns out so they are only organized so they can be part of some clause that allows a certain percentage of linehaul freight to be contracted out, or something to that tune. basically they are screwing road men out of jobs. sweet......
