Thanks Chorizo for the encouragement. I got a call from the recruiter this morning, he said that if the guy he contacted for the last spot didnt respond then I would get the spot for this sunday. It was pretty much the same conversation as last week but i am ready this time.

Good to hear, this time you've got a better window for getting things wrapped up at home before heading out. Keep us posted. :biggrin_25525:

I will try to keep ya'll updated as much as I can. I dont think I am going to bring a laptop with me for orientation and training. I remember Jim saying that there was next to no service available anyways.

    Were you getting less than 2000 miles a week on average? I figure with 2000 miles/week X .32 cpm start pay (Maverick) = $640.00 gross; then -25% taxes/insurance, maybe $500 net/week.
Lets see, to make $750 net/week add 25% taxes/insurance deduction = $1000.00 gross = 2500 miles x .40 cpm. Either you are getting great miles/week, or a nice .cpm rate with your current company!

yeah i would get 1700 miles one week and 1200 miles the next week and somewhere in between the next week and then i would get a 2300 mile week and i would think things were picking up and back to 1300 miles.....plus the new company i went with pays for the whole families insurance and more tarp pay and yes.......more miles......but maverick is a good company for guys just starting out(or girls) they talked to me like a human and treated me with respect and gave me excellent home time i mean its not their fault the freight just wasnt there for them to give me if it was i am sure they would have...but i can remember running 3500 miles in a week of course with them you cant do that anymore...or with most companies...but i would tell any prospective drivers that maverick by far is a better company to start with than tmc or mcelroy or hornaday.....they will treat you right and get you home even when you dont want to go home:biggrin_25525:
