I know what you mean about them scheduling the appts tight. Even so I always managed to be early. (mainly because I would send my DM a message telling them it couldn't be done before I took the preplan.) Which then they changed the times to be realistic.

I had more problems with sitting waiting to get unloaded and getting the next one. a few times it was another driver ahead of me making the receiver mad.

I left them after so much sitting and the fact I couldn't make any kind of plans with my family as they couldn't get me home on any certain day, no matter how much notice I gave.

I know there was a certain point that drivers were afraid to come into the yards, because so many were getting canned. I guess that was Melton's way of not making another pay cut.

I need to find a better company than who I work for Celadon. The miles are constantly 10% to 300% less. I don't want to jump up on a truck that is taller than I am. To tighten straps that I can't pull any tighter. I was run through the mill with Tight scheduling by Celadon.now ui get about 1800 miles after 6 months of being there. I make .31 per mile. I understand what you are talking about with pre-configured service failures by the dispatchers and planning team. This tells me that Melton is not driver oriented right away. I want a smaller company. Plus, the miles they rip you off on are pure highway robbery. i cant go with one big problem to another i have to find a better solution than Melton . You have help me not make another mistake.I have already been through 2 before Celadon. Garrett R Gustkey

last year when i work for them, they dont have drop yard in southern California. I park my truck at the T.A in Fontana for hometime. I dont think it wise to refuse or turn down any load with any company unless something that will not let you to run. Truck run at 65mph. Great equiptment I must say. I did my orientation in Mesquite,TX.. for 5 days. Monday thru Thursday and get the tractor on Friday. Most of the driver thier are very nice . They show me on load securement when I was a greenpea there at the shipper . A good company if flatbed is what you interesting in. Good luck in your venture.

Does anyone know if Melton has changed. Most of the posts are from 2008. Is it better in 2011??

All I know is if a company wanted you to run hard they woudnt give you a truck that goes 63 mph. I will never understand that!
