Have not been to this place in a while. A Cold Storage W/H in Gadsden, Al. (on the east end) they do a lot of chicken, and they get a lot of junk. Of 10 loads I've had from them over the years every single one has had damage. There has been times that I've rejected cases for damage only to find that they simply moved freight on pallet.
The last time I was in there they had put locks on all the doors and do not let drivers on the dock, then demand carrier count. The broker my company was dealing with, Arrow(out of Gainesville, Ga) was very understanding though.
I have not been to this place in 2 years. I think that I may have been too much of a pest to deal with. Rule 1. Document Rule 2 Document, Rule 3 Document. (otherwise known as cover your )

jetro cash in brooklyn and the brox.
hate going to these places hardly any one speaks english, you have to wander around and talk to about 5 different people and waste about 45 minutes to find the person who knows about the delivery or the person responsible for the unload.
the place in brooklyn is small but at least they unload quick about an hour maybe two.
the brox forget about getting out of their, took them about four hours, people park around the dock, difficult to back but at least they have room to accommodate an over night stay if needed.

I don't have a twic card, so it took 1 1/2 hour just to get thru the gate, another hour wait just to get a dock door, and 5 hours just to load. Filthy restroom, no vending machines, dirt parking lot has pot holes big enough to lay a trailer on its side.

Guess I am #### lucky to work for a courier after reading all your stories...

So I guess owner operators actually have the right to, "take the load and leave the place after a certain time"?

One of the worst for me is Walmart. I picked up a meat load in Tx, it had 2 stops on it. The 2nd on was only 2 pallets. one of the pallets had some boxes with no delivery date. I had to wait for their supervisor to come in and approve them calling main office to get approval to unload those boxes.they unloaded first pallet. Then in the end they said since there was no appt for those boxes (about half the pallet) they had to fit me in. I was there 7 hours. I was really mad.

Wal-mart in white plains NY is the worst ever. they are just the laziest snottiest people you ever met. it normally takes them 2 hours just to unload 5 pallets because they dont want other trucks to come in so then they have to work. I used to drive a straight truck for fedex ground and for the very heavy stuff they would never help u even if u ask. normally one of the walmart drivers would help if waiting for the dock. for wutever reason they refuse to do any heavy lifting and try makin the drivers do it for them all the time (even when its off the truck)

The only way to get shippers and receivers heads out of their ###, is to start a mandated law with major fines after a set amount of time waiting to get loaded or unloaded. As far as Wal-Mart goes, I refuse to pay anyone for them to unload my trailer that has their product on it. Thats like making the mail man pay me to put my mail in my mail box.
