m having a lot of trouble finding anyone to hire me. they all want recent graduates or 3 or 6 months experience. i might have to save up for truck school which sucks, or go try to get on with a company that i can get my CDL at for free, and just suck up the slave year to pay them off. not sure what i'm gonna be doing at this point but i will get a class A sooner or later.

and as far as "formal school training" you mean those "schools" that you pay 5k to get a license from? because i learned NOTHING at a cdl school when i went for the class B. i learned everything i learned so far when i went out by myself. i'm not an idiot, i am confident i can drive tractor trailers i will need to take my time to learn how to do it safely but i'm not a brainless #######, im 23, i own a house already, i never even graduated highschool, i've managed to get pretty far in life considering things i've been faced with and deal with. but thats got nothing to do with it, i see your point about new guys, we had a guy from USX, all the "proper" training. he pulled up to a bridge one day, got out, looked, went for it, tore the whole back of the truck off. OH YEAH i forgot to mention it was only a straight truck haha! and then 3 days later he smashed into a pepsi truck in a parking lot with is back swing. you're telling me that "properly trained" guy is going to do anything but get himself killed? i'm not trying to say i know it all i dont know crap about OTR driving for the most part, but i'm sure i'll get it just fine. i'm sure i'll drive a tractor trailer just fine. it takes common sense and being safe and i have those 2 things.

This dude has a class B and is another one of the many box truck delivery guys, thinking they can hop in a big truck, and some how they will know everything, from trailer managemnet to driving in kinds out of weather.....like going from 26000GVW to 80000GVW is no big.

I wish him lots of luck

I have experience running with dh and my cdl but it is not verifiable enough for the big companies. Call around because you will find someone willing to give you a shot. Possibly run as a team for a while but there are those out there with a truck that needs to be moved.
