That may be true, but they sure are STILL bustin' chops of CBers using them. There's some on there NOW! And they are still hitting shops for sellin' 'em!

Ya gotta LOVE ole Jim Bridgewater!!!!!!:biggrin_2559::biggrin_25525: He's ROUGH on them "extra" channels and export radios!~

Seriously, all the hams want is for the CB folks to stay OFF the ham bands. If we didn't hear them ON there, you'd hear hardly a word from us!
Truly, hams don't care WHAT people do on CB--so long as they stay ON CB. Nobody is makin' fun, talking "down" to anybody, denigrating truckers. The goal is to make drivers aware, and not come up into the ham bands. That's all!

If the FCC doesn't really care about higher power being used on the Cb freq then why don't they just lift the power limits on CBs??? This would pretty much cure the complaints about export radios and the frequencies they can get on.

Give me a CB that will do what my Connex 4600 T will do and I would not bother with exports. Or how about a legal CB that will do the same power as a Galaxy 98VHP.

I buy exports for one reason and one reason only, because they do more then 4 watts. No stock 4 watt CB will touch an export as far as performance even with a properly setup antenna setup. I have spent countless hours on my antenna setup and the best I can do with even a modified cobra 29 is about 15 miles on a good day. My Connex will double that in the same conditions. Sure I can put an amp behind the cobra and do even better then the connex but that requires more wiring and clutter in the truck. I knwo this because I have an amp in the truck now that is setup with a cobra 29. I had to loose a visor to put it up because there was no room for it anywere else and I did not want it on the floor. So it is sitting next to the cobra under the over head storage. Works great but I am going back to the connex due to the smaller package.

The problem is the same as on the ham bands IF you rase the power say to 50 watts then the outlaws will go to 1,000 .....

The problem as the FCC sees it is the trash that most illegal radios put out
over a wide spectrum and the fact EVEN if CB was a band where high power had a advantage you would still have thousands of dirty export type radios out there. As long as the trash stays on CB the FCC has better things to do
it's when it causes problems on 10 meters they will step in.

MURS radio which is part of CB if expanded and the power raised to 30-50 watts would solve many of the problems at 50 watts you could talk 20 miles or more truck to truck. BUT we have land moble users who would like to see MURS go away ......

    TO ME .....

EXPANDING MURS is the answer with a change in the rules to allow MURS
to be built into all 40 ch cb sets so everyone would have it.

Just don't hold your breath ......

Man would that be great to expand MURS and put up a few repeaters along the interstate like the Redneck link on 440 over in the virginia's and carolina's. As far as the export radios and amps on CB and all as long as you don't go where your not supposed to be and don't interfere with emergency services you should be ok in the CB band. I have been running down the road and had guys go by me running a dirty enough set up to interfere with me on 14.302.5 when you bleed and splatter from 27 Mhz to 14 Mhz that is a little much.

    Yes it would .....

Land moble intrest will fight it all the way .....

However what I would love to see is it expanded to 40 ch just like HF CB the power set at 100 watts with the current antenna limits of 60 foot.

You would be talking 20-30 miles truck to truck ......

Another addition would be open repeaters in high places the trucking companys could buy them for the safety of all truckers out on the open road but I'm dreaming BIG TIME about that.

BUT again nothing wrong with DREAMING :yes2557:

There are outlaws in everything and they go as far as their money will let them. So I see no big changes in that department. There are tons of people running export radios just to get a little more power in one package. Make it legal to have the same "export" power on CB and you will see legal CBs being made with these power levels and they won't have that band selector knob that hams hate so much.
