Has anyone had to replace both turbo's and what was the cost of the turbo's only?
Is their another set of turbos out their besides Cat that you can buy?
Mine have not gone out yet (knock on wood) but plaining for the day it does. I have 412,000 on an 06' C-15 and I hear they are good to go around 500k to 600k.

I've got 400k on a '07 and thinking the same thoughts.

From what I've read and been told first hand...... You need to start saving for an overhaul!
-
CAT sez an overhaul is due when you have burned 10,000 gallons of fuel thru the engine... many of us have gone a lot further (mine went over 1,000,000 after the first overhaul at 600,000)...
You CAN ditch the turbos and convert it to a single turbo... I wouldn't worry about the turbos ... have them inspected by a qualified tech. Unless they have damage or have sloppy bearings they are good to go.
My E model has the ORIGINAL turbo on it at over 1,600,000 miles. -
So if your getting 6 MPG and 10,000 gallons of fuel CATs need an overhaul every 60,000 miles? I am waaaaay over do then. Mine has 503500 miles and used almost 90,000 gallons of fuel.
On the turbos I replaced the low pressure turbo after a finn tip broke off the compressor wheel. It was under warranty at the time but the bill was almost $2800 for the one turbo and labor.Big John Thanks this. -
I think pittsburg power sells a single turbo for them.

Those CAT engines! 10,000 gallons thru the engine - thats lotsa fuel WOWWW
That is some serious technology here. -
You cant just go to a single turbo on a acert. It will build too high of egts because of the actuaters. You will have to remove them, cut the spacer, change the ecm, pull the water cooler, replace wiring harness, replace timing gear, and change timing sensor location. It runs in the mid teens.

more info i mean more detailed info.

You should be doing that anyway no matter what it is. Cummins, CAT, Detroit, Volvo or Mercedes they don't last for ever.
