If you want to check out Schneider, there is a great forum just for them. Lots of very good info there directly from Schneider drivers.

NoSoCraig when you and your wife are close to upgrading get with your fm so you can both get to the same terminal for the upgrade. if not you will upgrade and then need a load to get to ware your wife does her upgrade.

as soon as you both are on the same truck get with your new fm for hometime. if they say you have to stay out 15 more days just call the supervisor and tell them you have just finished training and upgraded and need to go home....!

they tried that with me when i upgraded and after i called i was home in 2 days. you need to remember that your new fm may NOT KNOW you just upgraded

I appreciate the post but to be honest, two weeks making money before we get home sounds ok to me. We are planning on staying out 5 to 6 weeks at a time anyway. We will try very hard to upgrade in Tunnel Hill as we just had a grand daughter born in Chattanooga on Thursday. Even for part of a day, it would be worth it to see her. I cannot wait to be together, I think we are going to have a lot of fun with this job.

Agreed, I almost did not answer the question. Some of what I have seen on the road scares the crap out of me.

I would like to get some info. I start orientation next week. They did not say anything about being with no trainer after orientation. I signed up for Solo Company Driver NOT Team. Does somebody have some insight on this.

With 15 yrs experience you will not have to go out with a trainer; that's only for those with no OTR experience. You'll have the standard orientation road test and should be assigned a tractor when/if hired. No one is officially hired until the last day of orientation. Teaming is sometimes required for new drivers with no experience, and even then it's dependant upon what part of the country your home is.
