I just did a rough calculation.
Annual salary: 35000.
70hours a week. 52 weeks in a year.
35000/(70*52) = $9.6 per hour
Is this about right?
Is truck driving about $10 per hour?

In all reality many otr drivers don't make that much,.......
I know some do very well,...
But on average it has become a sad existence,... -

Local driving I was making 16/hr and time + 1/2 after 40....

I dont know about everyone else, but I do a lot better than that. I run local class B. Work around 60 hours a week and make more than that.

well that depends on exp... figer 0.35 per mile and 130k a year paid miles and you get 45,500 a year then you get detention pay and lay over pay and unload pay and possible fuel bonus... you should be 47,000 a year... 13.58 an hour but then take about 4 weeks out of that for home time and you get 13.98 an hour and if you get up their to 0.42 per mile you get 54,600 a year plus the other stuff and get 56,000 a year you come up with 16.66 an hour soo it all depends on where you at i hope this helps you out
Busasamurai, lupe, JimDriv3r and 3 others Thank this. -
The truth is if you were paid minimum wage and put the hours in that we do, you would make more then a truck driver.
scottied67 Thanks this. -
If I stick with where I am and pursue it, ill make around 16/hr
scottied67 Thanks this. -
i agree totally with you but i love this profession and true the hours i "really work" in a minum wage job i would make more but that is just not mescottied67 Thanks this. -
There's a kid from WA (We'll refer to him as "Flagger") who claims local drivers in WA average $28/H......Just check out the union threads...that's where he lives....
