CAGE left the company in December, I think. Moved to Washington state and doing well. He may still lurk about, but I haven't checked. I do speak with him at least weekly and he's happy in his new job

Did the Lazy Boy shuttle from Redlands to Phoenix dry up? -
When I was leased to W-S I ran Baltimore-Seattle-Spokane-Chicago-Seattle-Spokane-Chicago-Baltimore. I was on the flatbed division and had a 10 ft spread which they didnt allow in CN. No heartbreak there. They were the best company I've ever been at, bar none. You can buy a Large Car and make money there. I refused paper loads except Smurfit due to the mud and they don't pay much but will get you moving. The guys on furniture were a good bunch at SFS and worked hard, drivers adn dockhands. Seemed a little lazy in WA tho. I liked WA due to the parking there, quiet and nobody botherd you.

Well I'm finally home with my folks. It's funny but I've learned the winter takes more of a toll on you. When I started in August, the first 2-1/2 months out seemed to go by so fast I was amazed at how long I was actually out there. This month seemed to take forever to get through..
So I have a few days to spend with my family and take care of a BUNCH of things I need to get done. I hope I have the time to do it all. I'm hoping the freight will pick back up very soon. This past month was not a good one for making much money.
Once again I need to thank everyone at Watkins and Shepard for working to get me home. I know it's been tough on dispatch due to the slow down in runs but they managed to get me from SFS on the 24th to Indiana, Indiana to Tennessee and then a deadhead to Conover because they needed the empty trailer where I got a load Friday to Jersey but it didn't deliver until Monday at 10:00. I called Missoula to see if there was anyway we could work it out so I didn't have to babysit the load all weekend. Knowing how important it was for me to get home and see my folks, they worked it out so I could drop the trailer at the Sayreville terminal and have a local driver deliver it Monday.
Obviously I don't have any experience with different truck companies and like any, we have our share of problems here at WS. But the efforts they put into doing their best to accommodate drivers when needed is nothing short of great in my humble opinion.
So a BIG THANKS to dispatch, the operations manager and all the staff in Missoula for getting me back to my folks!!Wedge Thanks this. -
Anyone would be hard-pressed to find fault with Watkins Shepard's workable attitude towards their drivers. And of coarse, from their point of view, I'm sure they enjoy working working a reasonable driver like yourself. Glad you were able to get home as needed to spend time with the folks.

Hey Darling!!
Long time no post! Glad you are home for awhile-been a bit that you have been out (since Xmas!) Hopefully you have a few days of R&R and get some time to visit????
Sounds like W/S has been working with you to get you home-nice to hear that they work with you as they can and of course you work right back with them!!
Winter has got to be that much harder -besides the crappy weather that makes getting from point A to point B that much harder-the cold and wet-the bad roads and even worse other drivers in 4 wheelers!!
Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers baby!! XOXOXOXOXOXOchralb Thanks this.
