A company could reason that, as a Company, the Company was payin' their lease drivers over a buck-a-mile. And now when the table is turned, the drivers only wanna spring for half that amount just because it's all they have?:smt017
What a poor excuse.:smt104:smt075
Just make more money

http://www.wernercares.com/ the real deal? Has the Werner PR pitchman been smoking his lunch or drinking it? Is it about safety or profit? WERNER says their training program has produced over 1,000 million mile accident-free drivers, nearly 100 drivers who have reached the 2-million mile mark and several who have reached beyond the 3-million mile mark. Are they just cherry picking the data? What about their Driver turnover rate? They don't want to talk about their driver turnover rate. Maybe its because they are running a Driver Mill.

Hello, I've been in contact with a recruiter from Werner, they gave me the green light to go to Fontana for two day ,then with trainer to start 275 drive hours, then on to solo otr. I'm asking to hear back from current otr drivers if you are getting miles, and what is your weekly average. thanks
-
Well I was just terminated from Werner four days ago and only needed 60 hours left of my 275 hour training. After coming back from PTO, I had to wait for another trainer at the La Quinta Inn cuz my first trainer was reassinged another student due to my taking PTO. So the pool was heated, but closed. Against the rules I went swimming anyway to do some laps and get some excersise. Needless to say hotel staff found about my swimming and left a note for the Werner guy who comes in for the 6am meetings. I was called into the terminal and was to report to this same guy whom had put me on speaker phone with a guy in Omah who had told me that the hotel was paid on the companies dime and by me breaking the hotel rules I was breaking there rules, which was against company policy and terminated me on the phone. I have to say tho I did appreciate Werner staff shuttling me back to the Greyhound station and paid for me to go back home. I think its petty to fire someone for this, so to those other werner employees that are new watch your back and don't break any rules regardless if its on your own time. The next day I called swift told them the story and was hired on within two hours after submitting that VERY long application of theres lol.. I read up and talked to a few people about why Werner likes to fire folks for anything. One story was a Swift recruiter talked to someone from Werner at a job fair mentioned that Werner has a goal to terminate 50 percent of all new hires they get because of the way our economy is the company gets a 10,000 dollar cut back from the government for ea. employee they hire. The employee dosnt have to have a set time to stay with the company so the company can let someone go at any time Werner desires. This way another sucker can come in company makes another 10,000 cut back from this Joe and the cycle starts all over. I read up above how some new hires at Werner are having a real hard time getting miles from them. Possibly could be a way designed to make folks quit. That was my Werner experience thanks for reading...

That was pretty stupid to go swimming in a closed pool at a Hotel. You were asking for trouble. Werner did the right thing to fire you for breaking that rule. It is drivers like you that go to these hotels and break their rules by swimming in a closed pool or smoking in a non-smoking room. Then that causes the Hotel to dismiss a company like Werner to let them use their Hotel for orientation. The pools pH level could have been off or you could have drowned and that would be a lawsuit waiting to happen.
That is crazy that Werner gets 10k for hiring a driver. They got to be banking a lot of money off the idiots that get on with that company then get fired in the first couple of days or weeks. -
Im not going to disagree with that. It was a stupid thing for me to do. The important thing is I learned from this experience and will think alot better before doing. I understand Werners point of view on this topic I was just stating my experience. In light of things I hope maibe my story could help people second guess before breaking hotel or any rules for that matter.

My sons been with a werner trainer since 1/3/11 traveling all over the US,we haven't seen him since. He's having a blast, not making a lot of $,but learning a lot from his trainer.I hope they keep him on when training is done,he lost 3 different jobs in 2011 due to the economy,it really sucks out there, and he is glad Werner is giving him a chance. If this doesn't work out he will join the US Army.
