Tip I just saw a movie this weekend that honestly reminding me of you. It was called bug. (No not the bug part). It boiled down that an individual had a conspiracy theory that was so powerful and profound to him, that he was able to draw another person into it and believe it.

If you abandon your truck from my terminal, I will show it on your termination and it will hit your dac. If you have accidents, then safety will show it on your dac. No one has time to intentionally go through and mess with drivers dac, we are to lightly short staffed as is. Sometimes you have to look at the driver saying they got hit with it. You have a habit of taking everything at face value from everyone but the company. I had a driver keep his truck for 5 days, I called everyday but just got voicemail. Finally I was going to send someone to recover it, and he called me and said he was bringing in. He took it to the truck stop about two blocks from the terminal and left it there with the keys in the ignition. I put that he voluntarily quit, but abandoned his truck since he did not bring to a terminal. Can it happen, I am sure it can. If you call management, and they see its intentional, someone will not have a job anymore. We get a tremendous amount of drivers back in the first year they left Swift, why ruin that?

My mentor IS teaching me the ropes, but i am getting the impression that he is better than most, Just like some DMs are better than others. Just like some terminals are better than others. I think (and i know im a rookie) that its all luck of the draw. if you've had a rough life, then swift prolly isnt the place to turn things around, but if you can keep your nose clean then swift has alot of opportunity.

All I can say is the information has been put out there. Pros and cons. Hopefully the person considering who to drive for has intelligence. They are over 21 so if they decide to disregard the land slide cons and go with the few (often biased) pros of a company then all that is left to say is God be with you.

It does happen, but each terminal does things differently for dedicated. It also depends on how fast they need someone. I will not put a new driver into dedicated until they have atleast 3 months driving exp minimal. They must also be service failure free and meet most of my metrics. I like to reward the drivers that have earned it, not just the ones that want it. I also inform everyone in my fleet of dedicated openings, and I do generally pick the best that respond. 1 bad driver can lose a dedicated account. I recomend you check with the terminal that you go to. Find out how many dedicated accounts they have, how often there are openings, anything that is in the works. Also find out about regional runs. Make sure you get to know your fleet manager and also terminal manager. You want them to know who you are by sight.

And as I have said before, most of those postings are old. We have a new direction and goals with drivers. There is a website that has overwhelming pleas that they are innocent and should not be in prison also..another words I am sure there is more to their story then that they are innocent and should not be in prison. There is not a week that goes by that I do have a driver upset. A driver has earned 2 days off, and takes 4 without telling anyone and gets written up. Another that just happened was a driver with multiple accidents and log violations just came out from his house 4 days ago. Safety informed us to terminate him, so we get him a load to the terminal. The driver figures out that somethings up and calls in and says he is resigning when he gets to the terminal. I believe he was hoping to quit before terminated. I termed as resignation in lieu of termination. He was very upset because the accidents were on his dac report and he was having trouble finding another company. They were non dot accidents, but cost over $10k. I am sure he would happily be on this website saying Swift did this intentionally. Sometimes its easier to blame others then take responsability for ones own actions. As I have said, always two sides to the story and I am on here for that reason.

For those new drivers looking around, read everything, dont accept everything at face value. Always look for what a person is truly after. Swift has 17,000 drivers. Lets use 100% turnover just as an example for Swift. So that would be 85,000 drivers in the last 5 years. For the industry that is nothing, for this website having 21 pages of bad postings, that is pretty minor. I believe some of them, but I do read them looking for ways to change in the positive.

thanks for the info Wes, i appreciate the it greatly. I do hope that my DM does not have the same views. I would have the same views as you but as a driver, i really want a dedicated account and hopefully i can show it through my driving.
