After the school, I got done Thursday. I called a woman and she ask did I want to go to orientation the upcoming Monday(7th) or the following Monday(14th). I chose the 7th, but I could have had a week off before going. I chose to come home just for the weekend. I have to catch a bus there Sunday and have orientation Mon-Thur. I'm guessing the trainer will pick me up there, hence the bus ticket there.

The stuff you learn on eGears, is the same stuff you go over in class on Monday, for your permit test Tuesday. Study hard, and you will ace it the first time. If you are lazy, you will get behind and have a harder time at getting to driving and learning the pre-trip, which is what you need to learn to get your license.

Bring bed linens, and pillows, clothes, and food that will last you for 3 weeks. They have a community fridge, that you can put your stuff in, and some will take it, and some want. I carried a cooler, and bought ice. There are some dinners you can buy from wal-mart(5 mins away), that don't have to be refridgerated. They have meat in them and are very processed to preserve the meat so they don't taste the best, but they are about $2.50 each, so you can eat for cheap. The kitchen has a hot plate, and microwave. The other one in the other dorms has a toaster oven as well, so if you need it, you can go over there and use it.

Carry a calculator, gloves, flashlight, and plenty of warm clothing. Carry an old jacket for out in the cold. You want get filthy, but will get a little stuff on your clothes from being around the trucks and learning your pretrip. I had a brand new jacket I got for christmas I had to wear and got ruined. Hoping I can get the stains out, but it is a light colored jacket, and didn't expect to have to wear it(it was colder there than I expected).

Other than that you should be good. You need about $500 for the 3 weeks you're there. This is for fuel to get there, license fee's $55.00, and food while you're there. If you eat ramen noodles, you can get by cheaper, but those get nasty after eating them everyday. I bought GreatValue refridgerated croissants with sausage, egg, and cheese. They are $7 for 8 and will get you by for 4-8 days depending how much you eat. For supper I ate the meals I mentioned above, and pot-pies. I even ate turkey burgers, pork chops and steaks. Still had about $80 left from my $500, but I went in with others to get the burgers and chops.

You'll need money on you while there also, cause when you practice on the road you will stop at a truck stop, and eat there.

    Good luck

One more question for you. I understand your taking a bus down again Monday. When you go out with your trainer is the 4-6 weeks broken up (time at home) or you out on the road the whole time?

Not sure but I'm on the bus right now headed to VanBuren AR.
When I find out for sure I will try and let you know. I'm thinking it will be all road time and you and your trainer get a few days off. Then they get you a truck and he gets a new recruit. Not sure though but I will try and let you know.

DS works good. the info you were just given is correct. with one exception USA hired me before school about 10 others 3 days into school they backed out on all of us. I tested in the high 90's on the tests and all of my Background was good. so I was told! they do that some times. C1 will immediately start pushing Werner if that happens. I chose Swift never regretted it. Unfortunately I got sick and had to leave the road. I still talk to my friends I made on the road at Swift and most still are there. Just a bit more info for ya. Good Luck
