Looking forward to the whole experience. I've been taking every sample online test I can find and I'm not worried about passing the written stuff at all. How I do when I get behind the wheel remains to be seen. I can say this though; I can put a boat trailer in a space with 4" on either side on the first try without fail. I know that's not really anything to brag about in the larger picture, but I know plenty of people who can't back a trailer to save their soul.

I'm fairly local so I'll be taking my own vehicle to school every day. I'm also paying my own way so I'll actually be getting paid the .22 per mile from day one once I start with my trainer. 20/10 is what I hope to do once school, orientation, and training is over. If you're interested in that let me know. PM me here or use this screen name to email me at the place where the yahoos hang out.

Congrats! Let us know how everything goes from here on out. Hope you get a good trainer!

Looking forward to seeing more posts from you. BEST OF LUCK.

    Chris

Yep, thats what I remember too. I think only one of the Volvo's was road worthy, we used two or maybe three FL's on the road.

Being local helps. I lived right off of Fontana Ave in Fontana and had a 15 min drive to school every morning. The CRST trainees that were there back in 07 said the hotel was really disgusting.

Orientation is horrible...talk about ### backwards in every way shape or form...I can't describe so you all will understand how bad it is. None of the job verification, or anything that it takes to hire someone is done until you begin orientation...so you dont really know you have a job at all. Now they say when your out with your trainer you will be out for 28 days...lie number 1 its 6-8 weeks, then they force you do do per diem...they got their heads up their ##### here. Good thing this is only for experience...there is so much more to tell guys just hang tight and ill update more...wife on the phone and i need to relax.

Wow what a way to start with a company. Your first impression is at orientation and to drive 6 to 8 weeks instead of 28 days makes me have second thoughts before I get started. But then again I need experience so I can move on with a real company that cares if there is one out there? Just not sure how bad I want to get screwed first ? Thanks for the update!

well, I didn't get stuck with 6-8 week orientation. My trainer got on my nerves so much that I just pissed him off in every way possible without getting my ### thrown out of the truck. He dropped me off back in fontana a little under 3 weeks and I was good to go. Just fyi, don't expect more than $100 to $200 in pay every couple weeks. It's hardly a livable wage. If you have another means to get your cdl I would go for it.

I've just finished schooling and going to get on my trainer's truck on or about Wednesday... I'm in Fontana, CA and am doing this through Central Ref. So far, no bad experiences, and not really expecting any. It is an 'excellerated' course - but the instructors are great and will do everything in their power/experience to help you pass. Tricks/tips - I can't say enough good things about them... but it is A LOT of info crammed in to a short amount of time!! While I'm out in my trainer's truck - I will be making $450/week... minus starting to pay back my schooling... If you already have your permit/CDL the cost of going through the training isn't as much as if you don't have it already... either way I would say it's well worth it.

    AsphaltPilot Thanks this.

Many Mahalos to you Lady K,

According to the contract w/crst I should be making 50.00 per day. Sounds like you are making 100.00 more. Question:) Did you sign a contract and if so how long is it. What is the starting pay after the training?:biggrin_25525:
