I'm having a tough time finding an answer to my question (this forum & FMCSA website). 2008 I had an MI(heart attack), blockage only, was ballooned & one stent was installed, was out of the hospital in 3 days. Have not had any problems since. (in fact 2 days ago I cleared 3200 sq ft of 18" snow without any problems..pains..etc). Anyway back to my question, mid March it's time for my annual DOT physical. Last year Dr said I need to pass a strees test before I come back for renewal in 2011. Looks like you can spend anywhere $1200 to $5500 here in Tulsa, I believe there are different tests required if you had an MI verses a full blown bypass...etc Does anyone happen to know which test i would require or know where I could find the answer to my question??

I had stents (2)put in a bout a year ago and had the doctor on the DOT physical order a stress test.
I called my primary doctor and had him order my test, my insurance paid the whole bill that was about 550.00 as far as I can tell from the bill I received, not sure if there will be any other forth coming but I doubt it. All the DOT doctors order stated as follows DOT requires stress test after stent placement with EF >40% ,,also note from cardiologist stating he is fit to drive. I call my cardiologist office and they did a treadmill and sonogram type test. I know there is a chem induced stress test but never had one. My cardio
Faxed over the results and it was EF>55% and a note stating I was fit to drive.. That was all it was to it.
I did think it would have cost more and was surprised at the bill. Hope this info helps you.. Im 50 years old and feel ten years younger since my stents. I just have to be recertified once every year and a stress test every two.. I wish I had listened to my brother who told me to keep my mouth shut, as I guess a lot of truckers dont mention pace makes, stents and the doctors can see pacemakers during the physical,, my brothers doctor said he likes it when they make he job easier,, but that was about 6 7 years ago in Florida,,
Might not be like this everywhere -
Thanks you two for your replies, I can't believe it's so hard to get the info I need. With the health professionals I have spoken with.......you would think I'm the only one that has ever needed a treadmill test. The hospital my GP works out of bounced me around for 30 minutes before I got a quote....GP wouldn't get me one. I was quoted $270 with insurance or $203 if I pay cash. No one could tell me the charge for a doctor to interpret the results.

I think it's the insurance company,, they rule and we are just cash cows,,,but I understand,,, now when I went and had mine,, I wasn't sure the insurance was going to pay the stress test,,and was surprised that it was only what it was,, even at the 270 is better than what you qouted 1200 to 5500.. IMHO

That's the nice thing about living in Canada. I had a heart attack in 2007 and everything was taken care of. I had no bills to pay, and no doctor to shop for. What did it all cost? I don't know. I also don't need insurance. This proves that our health care is somewhat better the the American system. If you have to see the Dr about something you just go, and that's the end of it. Just thought I would point that out.

Gee hope there is more than just your medical system,,,our medical system here is complicated in a lot of ways and seams our insurance providers dictate our health providers that for is sure. Never been with out health insurance so I myself have always had good medical access and wouldn't want to live anywhere else than America even with all our problems economy wise that we're experiencing. I know every day I see a beer truck on the road I know it's going to be good day. -
I have problems walking , can't lift or carry anything , legs and feet seize up after I sweep trailer out. If I do that need the broom to take steps .It's been determined that the blood vessels and veins plugged up .I have 1 Stent in my legs . But the question I have is can I request to have my Cdla revoked permanently? I just want to file disability and call it quits . I just figure if I can walk or do any lifting anymore , I just want to give up on this . Sick of the stress and hypertension, and long hours.Do you think if I ask the Cardiovascular Doctor to revoke Cdl he will do it?

FWIW: Just because you get your CDL revoked doesn't mean you'll immediately qualify to sit on your ### and collect disability. There are other jobs you can do and you can get training from most job centers (i.e. employment offices) to help with that. Don't expect handouts... those are going away shortly because the new leader of the country doesn't believe in them.x1Heavy Thanks this. -
There is a Tier two that you will have to swear to oath and sign the form at the Revenuer (DMV to you) and once that's done you CDL will be still valid in your pocket for anything except motorcycles (Useful if you intend to load up pickup trucks etc) and you will be part of a resource to be called upon for hauling dead bodies in a national disaster event etc. which is what Teir two is for without any Medical card necessary.
If you file disability SSdI, get it started. It will be denied several times over about a year, go see the administrative judge and present your case etc to him or her. If approved, you will receive back pay dating to the day you file and then go to a monthly fixed income. at this point Medicare will not kick in for you until 2 years have passed after you have been approved for it. Every 10 years or less you will be reviewed medically.
At this point you are out of the work force, you are "Allowed" to putt putt in a part time work to about 200 or so dollars a month without triggering dollar to two reductions in benefits and incurring taxes.
