    Mark,

I've been running Alberta a lot lately, and there are some serious gaps in the map database, up to and including an entire 4 lane divided highway that was built several years ago MIA (AB201 thru Calgary). When the map update is finally available, will Canada be getting some love too? From what I can gather from talking to other drivers up there, the Rand Canada db is, at least in sections, using data that has not been updated in at least a decade. Not blaming Rand, I know my TND was released with what was available at the time, but it sure is frustrating trying to navigate in the Great White North with outdated information. Good thing there aren't a whole lot of roads in the western provinces to choose from :p

Cross-posted since I'm not sure which board/site is checked the most...

Well, I have been reading up on the tnd500 problems the past 45 minutes or so. I am getting the "unknown device" problem. The computer beeps to indicate something was plugged in, but pop's up an error telling me is can't identify the device. Here is some data from the Device Manager...
    Code:
Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)
    Code:

    PDCAP_WAKE_FROM_D0_SUPPORTED
    PDCAP_WAKE_FROM_D2_SUPPORTED

I have a Toshiba Gaming laptop, about 6 months old. Qosmio x505. 64bit Windows 7 Home. Doesn't get too much beefier than this for a laptop. It also has a dual Esata/USB port. This port is designed for an external hard drive, which uses up a lot more juice than a little gps unit. I still cannot get the dock to load. Been sitting this whole time with it plugged into this usb port. The power light on the unit has been green.

I finally discovered where to download and manually install the Dock software. No problems on installation, but I cannot download the updates to my computer in anticipation of hooking my laptop up to the 500 later. I click the update button from Dock and the program crashes. Pretty frustrating.

I haven't seen any posts more recent than a couple/few weeks... so whats the story here? Is there a fix to these gps units not asking for or getting enough power? I do not have a desktop computer. I do not have a powered hub, but my combo Esata/usb/iLink port provides more than enough anyway. I like the interface and would rather not have to learn a new brand.

    Thanks!

Is anyone out there having issues with the TND 500 sending you everywhere but where you want to go? I programmed into it that wanted to go to Love's in TN on I-40 exit 87. First, it wants to send me to the exit before 87 and run me through the woods to get there. Then, when I passed the exit, it wants to send me to the exit after it to backtrack back to exit 87 through the woods. What in the world is going on with this thing?

I recently wiped vista off my laptop and installed win7x64. I plugged the unit in to see if it worked when I saw your post. I installed the dock off the unit and ran all the updates. Everything worked fine.

    HD_Renegade Thanks this.

Thank you. I just got the 700 today, and it is still charging. I wondered if I was going to have issues with the software and Win 7 64 bit.

It should work fine. There seem to be some power issues that they're working on with the standard usb port not providing enough for that unit. Mine's a 500 so I haven't had any dealings with that. You might have to get a powered usb hub for it but those are pretty cheap.

Thank you. I will do some testing with it after it has charged up a little bit more. Trying to stay with what it says to allow it to charge for 2 hours before use. As for USB connections, I think that it should get power from the PC. I think that the lack of power would be from using a USB hub connected to a PC, but I could be wrong too.

    Thank you

The answer to this maybe some where in the many pages but thought I would ask.

Is there another program to read and add info to the DB files for the software for the GPS?? I would like to add some other PIO's and some addresses to this without sitting in front of the GPS with the plastic pen.

    Thank you
