I posted that same pic on another board. One of the really good techs, who's also a driver, replied that it looked like the Heads-Up Display on an F-22 Raptor.
I had to agree. If only I'd been born rich, instead of so darn good looking, I'd have one of these for my base. Instead, I've got a quasi-broken-down IC-730, with a lot of parts made out of Unobtanium.

...makes me think of the CB Rambos out there. Turn the echo or reverb up and deepen their voices and kick some rear. ..then you'll see them jump out of their truck at a truckstop and they'll be a little skinny squeaky voiced coward. But NOT behind that radio hiding behind the "voice enhancers".

Right now Im using a very nice, basically mint Kenwood TS-520S that was sold back in 1978. Bought it for $400 2 years ago. Still performs like new. Many consider still to be some of the best sounding radios out here yet. I was just given a basket-case TS-530S a few weeks ago too. It needs a complete teardown and restoration as soon as I cough up a few bucks to send it to a tech. Both are considered "classic" radios, and still very usable. Maybe some day, I can afford a fish-finder radio LOL

You know, just for kicks and to hear it from the horses mouth, today while at the truck stop, I asked over the radio why truckers run echo, if it is needed and what gain is there to it.

The first guy that piped up, actually said "it gives me a woody".

The next guy keyed up and acted as if I was asking the most stupidest question on earth. :smt017 I guess he thought I was another trucker that had been around for awhile and was just playing games.

I had to explain that I didn't have a radio with echo and wasn't sure if I should look into it.

The third guy keyed up and mentioned that it helped you with your modulation.

So there you go. Make whatever you want from it.
