Because some scientist gired by mothers against tired truckers said that was not safe to drive that way. So they pushed and got fmcsa to change the hos. They still weren't happy sued again and now we get the new bs hos which just makes it harder. I swear some people think we should just be able to work 8 to 5 and get freight there by the magic fairies, but I want their drugs

I ran out my full 14 every day last week. Was not a fun week.
Then I should have been home on Saturday, but the load I delivered Friday morning was a firm 1300 delivery. Since nobody told me I got to them at 0930 and sat till 1445.
This got me behind for the weekend.
So instead of getting home Saturday right when my hours were up, I did not get there till Sunday morning, and I had a Monday morning delivery.
    So no 34 for me.
I just ended up meeting my wife at the travel plaza on 90 west of Buffalo and went to the hockey game. I never bothered to go to the house.

Now I will be sitting again. I used all 7 hours I had to run today. I get back 8.25 at midnight. But I deliver at 1000 85 miles from here in Stow OH, and cannot pick up till 1700 in Canton. For a short run to Columbus.
Bad start to the week in some ways. But I have a good 1000 miles in already. So I will still get over 2200 for the week. And I had 3000 last week.

That sucks. How are you adjusting to electronic logs? I work 14 hour days everyday, but I rarely drive 11, usually my drive time is on order 6-7 hours

I have to get use to logging it out as I should.
Today is a good example, now that I am working on recap.
I had 7.25 hours left this morning on my paper log. But only just over 4 hours on my e-log. I forget to log it off at shippers and receivers.
At the moment I am still in training mode. So my paper log rules, not the e-log.
As long as my locations match and times match within 15 min they will not violate me.
I will probably be on full e-log in a few weeks. hopefully my memory gets better before then.

I work 14 hour days at least 3-4 days a week. Since we are short to med haul. And it is just how loads work out. Plus allot of multi stop trips.
Normally it is not every day for a week though. I just did not quite make it home for a restart. So this week will start slow.

Holy Crap!!! Today I drove on a road that no truck should ever be on. U-63 south out of MO into AR. The first 50 or 60 miles into AR were ridiculous!! Hills and curves and Esses and hills with curves up and curves down and esses on hills up and down! Oh, and the road is 1 lane each way, and narrow, with no shoulders. Good god man, why the heck does the routing software send us on these roads? Once you get past the first 50 or 60 down in the flats it's fine, but man, I was cursing at something or someone for the first part of that adventure. I had either a car or truck licking my DOT bumper the entire time. I even pulled over once in a small town(pop. 207) to let 3 trucks and 5 cars go along their way. I am very cautious on roads like that. The roads are perfect and the sun was shining. If it was night, I don't know what would have happened. I have 43000 in the box and it was a chore...

Me too in the company's gutless t2000 with a 10 speed thanks to company's fuel routing and I kknow we had less than 1/4 tank because we always did. I loved all the toothpick haulers and fed ex trucks that were frustrated because it was all I could do safely in that truck. Now we don't ever have to go on that road.

Hey Cutter it sure is perdy though ain't it?!

Bigtruckdriver, did you pick up the damaged reefer from another driver? I'm sure Central will send them a message! They should have noticed that F'up when they were closing the doors and making sure that their load was secure!

Gat, didn't I have a mileage chat with you before? You'll understand once you get out with your trainer about the endless variables in asking someone what they are getting for miles.

So Chrome, you are converting to e-logs now? Let me know how it goes. Just interested how an experienced driver who has run nothing but the real books does on paperless! Could be me one day!

You know, if these air heads want to pass regulations so bad, why don't they pass some that real make sence and will HELP truck driver?

    Like:
    1st.
You or freight, you unload it... you don't charge the driver or the trucking company to unload YOUR product. (this really P!$$ me off... I had to write a ComCheck to Costco for $155 to unload 6 pallets of mushrooms, my next stop was a charge of $125 for 10 pallets).

    2nd.
You require appointments for trucks to deliver and charge them or re-schedule them more than 6 hours later if they are late; Then if the truck meet the appointment time (there on time) and it takes more than 1 hour from that appointment time to have that truck unloaded, you paythe truck!

I had a run from Riverside, CA to just north of Bakersfield, CA and only had 3 hours to make it. Durring morning rush hour traffic. We were $250 late fee.
