That may be true, certain medications can limit a DOT physical card to 1 year so your condition can be checked more frequently, but I'm no expert in that field, or any other field for that matter.

P.S. I'm dying to know, what company were you talking to?

 

well first off most trucking companies will send you for a new physical so take that with a grain of salt.....I don't know all the rules regarding BP. meds

This is one of the reasons they are trying, (or maybe already have) to limit the DOT physicals to only certain medical people who actually KNOW what the rules require. Your good old family doctor is likely just too darn busy to be up on everything that changes with the regulations.

Also, it can be much harder for your family doctor to deny you a medical card if you don't qualify. He is also concerned for his own business and does not want to lose you and your family as patients.

 

High BP, or BP under control of medications...1 year DOT card.....

Diabetics on the pill......1 year DOT card......

 

I'm diabetic and have 2 year dot card. I take pills.

i was at the clinic when a driver was being examined, and they found he was a diabetic....from there, here was told he can only get a 1 year card....just like a high BP person with meds would have to get...

so, thank your lucky stars you got the 2 year card....

 

No,it up to the doctor if a person can go two years. If the doctor think you have the sugar level under control.it just said in tbe beginning of what you posted. If your level above 120. You get one year.
