IIRC there is no such animal as a true 12v induction burner. The Burton/Athena one needs to be run off of an inverter. Unfortunately, induction burners have a massive startup draw (last i looked more than a microwave) and can also be prohibitively expensive even still. Awesome technology just not quite ready for many company trucks. I love my butane burner....never thought much of them until culinary school when we used them all the time. Now I'm more inclined to use it instead of an electric stove at home even.

Just wish the canned stuff wasn't so high in salt. Amy's organic soups are tasty. Especially the veggie chili. That one is hard to find.
I made brown rice with boneless skinless chicken breasts yesterday with Habenero hot sauce and some of that squeeze minced garlic for spices. Dropped some of thos expensive pre washed ready to eat green beans on there 30minutes before it was done.
Habenero sauce is mighty salty -
Bummer. I'm sorry if I got any hopes up. I have a very nerdy friend who specs dental machinery---I'm getting him on this--build a better portable stove!
Yes, many canned foods are loaded with sodium. You can order from Amazon (case discounts are GREAT). I think it's called Amazon Fresh? Also, if you see a Trader Joe's in your travels, they have excellent canned/boxed items. They have lists at the front of the store for every imaginable dietary restriction (my son doesn't eat gluten). They have a low-sodium list! -
[This is a repost I made from"adventures of Team Klingon"]
Well... tonight I had a pretty good dinner (oh... oh... maybe I should be careful saying that... I am just a few miles from Doner) - In the truck. Last night, I got a "salad to go" from the truck stop. (a salad , I got to fill the togo box with salad stuff and it cost only $3.25) I ate half of it last night. Tonight we walded down to the dollar tree about 2 or 3 blocks from the truck stop (Margie, Bruce and myself). I got some nuts and stuff but I also got a can of chili.
So I heated up some of the chili and put it on top of the left over salad. So it was kind of a "Taco Salad".... it came out pretty good if I may say so my self.... lol
[and I do] -
ok now im hungry

I'm still at Sierra Sid's!
I still have 2/3 of a can of chili.....
Grab a salad and come on by... I am in the back row left side.

Klingon, are you in sparks?
-
yep... by breakfast, I'll have a 34 and US postal service will be delivering my mail to me here....

BTW.. don't get too excited over the cookies.... I should have known better than by SF cookies from the "dollar tree" type store...
They were stale, and tasted pretty bad.... -
its all good and it gives somethings to think about
