How did you like the training? I assume you mean "tough" as in they train you so you will be well prepared for the CDL road/skills/Pre-trip inspection? That's the kind of training I want. I'm going the "cash" route and I was kinda worried that once they get the money, they really don't train all that well and it's more up to the individual to pass. Not that I have heard anything like that about Roehl, I just heard that in general. So far, I've heard nothing but good about Roehl, but I don't think I read any posts from someone who paid cash upfront. Don't get me wrong, I'll give 110% to earn my CDL, but there are alot of things I'll need practice on and explained to me. I really don't know much about the "big rigs", air brakes, combo's ect. I drove a propane "bulk" truck about 10 years ago, but that was a Class B license required and no log books to worry about. Pre-trip was a pain and barely passed, but passed. The whole process was wierd, and I didn't even hardly drive the truck, mostly rode doing OJT for deliveries before I went to the DMV for my road test after getting my CDL permit. Actually, I think I only backed the truck once in the company yard before I went to test. Luckily it was a smaller double tank I tested in and it wasn't too difficult to manuver. The serentine was interesting and an alley/dock back which I never did before. No air brakes to have to deal with, which was a plus looking back on it. Only God got me through that process and I'm gonna need Him again for this one! So far, so good and God is always good! Thanks for any info you can give and God Bless!

Toby, were there any female students in your class and if so how were they treated by the trainers and the male students.

I know that this is kinda early in the stage, but I am going throught RDTC in Marshfield. My class is supposed to start on 23 July 07. I don't know which vehicle I am going to drive to Wisconsin from Alabama, but it will either be mine (sunfire) or the wifes (caravan). If anyone needs a ride to/from the school house when I am there, my passenger door is always open...lol:biggrin_2559:

Congrats on getting in...I guess I called at the right time to get in on the 18th of June. I can't wait!! Be careful on your trip and if you want to leave even earlier...I'd chip in for the gas! lol I'm sure someone at the school will be in the same boat as me...no boat! I haven't really decided yet..I may just rent a car and be done with it when I get there. I can always rent a car and if I find someone in the class willing to give me a ride, I could turn in the rental. I really don't want to spend more than I have to right now, at least til I start getting paid!

Whispers, you'll have to look for me when you get there! I'll be the one looking around with a confused look on my face! lol

  9. Hey there,
I just finished orientation today in Ellenwood. As of right now, Ellenwood is only for orientation, but there was construction going on down the hill where our trainer Chris told us they were building a school. According to him, when they get done, they will be teaching school here too. All the trainers that I have met so far including driver trainers that have come into the drivers lounge have been very nice. Good luck when you go up there for school. I am sure you will do fine.

Thanks for the info. I wish they would have started construction sooner! lol. I take it all went well with Orientation? I have heard about 98% positive things about Roehl, and I'll find out for myself here shortly. I'm really excited and ready to get started and over and get a truck of my own. Do you know if once I go through Roehl's Training if I'll have to do the road test again for Orientation? I kinda figured that if I took their training and passed, they know I could drive and it would be more the paperwork and learning about the company. Your thoughts?

  11. I am not sure if you would or not, but I can not see why you would have too. It was not too bad though. I had not been in a truck for about a month and passes. I know that you will take one once you finish Evolution II. You have to pass a written and drivers test before you pick up your truck.
