Why do they ask you if you smoke?

A wise choice on your part. You are part of a very small minority.
Tobacco is probably the least harmful part of a cigarette.
    No assaults, just facts.

When I found out the big tobacco companies were using formaldehyde, among other things, to process tobacco and make it so it wouldn't dry out, I took a long look at what I was consuming. I switched over to a natural, organic brand that uses no chemicals in the processing. Yes, the tobacco has a propensity to dry out. That can be remedied by putting the pack in a zip-lock baggie with a slice of apple. The tobacco is stronger because it has no additives, so I find I smoke about half as much as I did before. This more than justifies the higher price I pay.

I have also found I am less "winded" and can work harder for longer than before. I am convinced it's not the tobacco that's the problem. It's not the paper or the filters. It's the added chemicals and flavorings that are the problem.

It's a proven fact that pipe smokers (pipe tobacco is less processed than cigarette tobacco) live on the average two years longer than non smokers.

Also, "regular" cigarettes can be as little as 40% tobacco. The rest is filler.

I think the reason pipe smokers live longer on the average is pipe smoking is supposed to be relaxing. They smoke crack in a pipe so maybe the crack heads are relaxed out of their minds.

Thank you. Yes, I've been cancer free for almost 7 years. I've learned that the cancer survivors club has a large membership. Which is both good and bad. Are you a member?

No, but have had health issues which convinced me to stop. I loved smoking and I still miss it terribly. Although I quit a year ago occasionally expecially after watching a TCM movie or Andy Griffith I would cheat. Now I only get a little twinge each time I see ReRuns avatar:)

I agree with Injun on this one, no need for the shiny hat. The folks in recruiting are working with the training staff and orientation staff to match up the smokers with smokers and non with non.

I smoke also. I roll my own I can buy a pound of natural tobacco at $30.00 and my filtered tubes at $2.95 for 200 in a box, I buy 2 boxes of tubes with filters and spend about $40.00 and it last me all month or more sometimes. The tobacco last longer and I do not smoke as much.

I did try quiting a couple of times. It was very hard. I gained all most 40 lbs. Because to be honest food tasted a whole lot better. But since then I caved and I am back to smoking. And I have lost that 40 lbs and then some. So it is be fat or smoke for me. I think I would rather smoke. Because now my body does not hurt and I can move a lot better without all of the extra weight that I was carrying around and I no longer snore.
