I had a level 1 and all they could find was "emergency cross tubing worn to the 2nd color"(DOT wording), which turned out to not even be worn...You can't see them unless you get on your back and crawl under each axle...I still haven't run across anyone that knew what they were or even checked them...

getting under everyyyyy trailer is a lot of work. and not trying to sound lazy. but the brakes are all supposed to be self adjusting, i know stuff happens, and blah blah. but unless you are expecting an inspection everyday(not a bad idea even) or suspect a problem i dont see the point in doing a 200 point inspection or evey trailer when i can be on as many as 3 in a day. i check tires and for air leaks and visually inspect everything on every trailer, but i guess thats about it. i have not the slightest idea who to adjust these self adjusting brakes anyway.

i can see how getting busted on something would make you want to not repeat it though. but that guy really was just busting your balls. my guy didnt even check beyond my lights and brakes and steering.

Not all brakes are self-adjusting and even the ones that are the adjusters can be bad. fyi

I like the old style better then these self adjusting ones. With the old ones you just back up and ride the breaks, the further back you go the tighter they get lol.

if you're in missoula tonight, try getting under the trailers to check the cross tubings there... whole lot is mud. I didn't want to walk in it and get back in my truck let alone roll around in it inspecting under trailers..

had a weird Canada run from Calgary, Ab to Erickson, BC.. long, dark, wind-y roads through the Rockies. glad the weather was ok or that would've really been a ######.

after picking up the beer load, I passed into ID. Border guards decided to search my whole cab. This has never happened to me before. even wanted the password to my laptop. really lame. The laptop bit was a bit too far for me. I feel violated.

anyway, stopped in missoula with it.. couldn't uncouple for the life of me, so sprayed a lot of penetrating oil all over the kingpin release mechanism, and then had no troubles.. Home now for the weekend enjoying some much needed beer and wine. ahhh..

I need to check my ac in this new truck, i've used it a few times but never for long enough to see how cold it really is... But when I go home next week the truck is getting dropped off at Blue Ridge, with my Fix it list, and this is a "this truck will move again WHEN everything on this list IS fixed PERIOD!" lol

I will not get a ticket for something stupid! well not if I can help it anyway lol
