Pepper I was posting to the thread that you made comments to. I was being sarcastic to the nuts out there that say they did or do work for land$tar and have all these stories that are so full of ####. I am also sarcastic when a driver posts over and over about wanting solid facts about pay and wages etc. How much a mile, how many miles, where can I go. Is it a good idea to quit what Im doing and try something new? Maybe ask once get a few ideas but asking same questions over and over looking for the answer you want to hear. I got called up from 2 drivers I knew from another company. They made good money before landstar. I trusted that if they were even happier at landstar that was enough for me. I have taken loads that paid a dollar a mile and I have also been been on projects that paid over 18,000.00 a month to just stand by. So how do you explain dollar per mile. Monday an agent called had 200 mile load from pa to md 1000.00 thats 5 a mile. Same day im reading the post about this guy thats happy at .92 plus fuel. Same run he would have gotten 250 bucks. I can go on and on. Not everyone is cut out for landstar. You are a one man show. You better be computer lit, a dale carnegie salesman and a #### good and safe driver. If need someone to hold your hand bring the wife. Dont count on landstar for your success count on landstar to process your paper work make sure you get paid and keep you in compliance.

Sorry, good info - thanks -
I talked to a landstar H/W team last week or 2 weeks ago. He has been at landstart for 12 years. He said he loves it and would not go anywhere else. He had a huge T660 with the what I call mobile apartment on the back and a nice 53' flatbed with a roller tarp or whatever you want to call it. He told me he did great and you can make a great living at L/S if your willing to work. He ran through some of his numbers with me and told me about the numbers he was making on the trip he was picking up where I was and the load he was picking up down in El Paso. If you cant make a living and a #### good one with what he was making then your buying pointless little things that do you no good. He gave me some suggestions along with his card and Overdalimit he told me that if I was to ever look into landstar look at steps to pull. He said to get the same thing you use to pull. I would do 1 thing different and that is add in a 3rd axle and make them all lifts. He said you would be considered specialized then and get 1% more on loads.
Now 1 question for those of you that are not on here talking crap, living in Chicago how much freight goes in and out of here that you guys pull on any trailer (does not matter just curious) that is within a 300 mile delivery say to the major cities like Detroit, Milwaukee, St Louis, and Indy and then pull loads out of those areas to go right back into Chicago? Pretty much could you run regional/ semi local out of Chicago with L/S? -
Check this out , will give you an overview of the freight in / out of certain regions.

And before someone storms in here to POINT out the FACT that Not all LS freight gets posted on that board but it will give you a bit of insight -
I already look on there from time to time. I do appreciate the response though. I was just looking at it and it definitly looks great! I'm pretty sure I could run to and from chicago almost daily. But when you see one of those loads paying 3 or 4 dollars a mile out to the west coast that might be hard to turn down once in a while.
-
Thats one of the nice things about LS , you get somewhat of a choice / variety.
-
Overdalimit how would someone go about getting a password to get access to the loadboards? I don't have contacts at LS.

I have been here a dozen years and will not work with any other company.scottied67 Thanks this.
