I use a Verizon 'Five Spot" its a mobile hot spot.
    10 GB for 85.00 a month...

I run Skype when driving at night, it cuts out here and there, but so will any ones service, but for the most part its pretty good.

I ran it one month where I pushed the 10 gb limit, I would turn it on when I was about ready to roll left it on all day till I was ready to go to bed. I would shut it off at night.. Running it for 24 days like that I used 9.75 GB
Had I crossed over the 10gb I would then have to pay 10.00 per gb over...

I've heard though that they are in the works to change the 10gb to unlimited like they used to have.. But that's just a rumor ...

http://www.millenicom.com/ $70 a month unlimited. They have a bring your own device plan, so you might be able to take that mifi with you. Not sure on that. This is the only place where you can still get unlimited 3g, as far as I know. They use the Verizon network, so you're good on that.

According to their TOS, "Usage over 50 gigabytes in one month will alert our investigative team." So not "unlimited," but pretty ###### close.

Bought Verizon's new 4 gig modem and paid $100 for it. Got a $50 rebate and now pay $50 a month for 5 gigs instead of $60. Also, for every 1 meg you go over, costs anothe $10. Have been mostly happy with verizon and they have att beat all to heck on where you can actually use it.

For mobile internet while on the road try the Sprint Overdrive (It is 3g and 4g where appliable). Think I pay around $70/month for it with total equipment protection.

Thats what I use. I also have a Blackberry throught Nextel on the same account and for light internet like checking Facebook or E-mail real fast I use it.

The Sprint Overdrive is awesome though!!!!

And if all else fails just stop near the local motel and hawk their wireless signal, check your mail and roll on.

If you use public hotspots you are an easy target for Main-in-the-Middle and session hijacking attacks.
Hackers can use tools like Firesheep and AirJack to perform "man-in-the-middle" attacks where they insert themselves into the wireless conversation between sender and receiver. Once they have successfully inserted themselves into the line of communications, they can harvest your account passwords, read your e-mail, view your IMs, etc. They can even use tools such as SSL Strip to obtain passwords for secure websites that you visit.

Try using a commercial VPN service provider to protect all of your traffic when you are using wi-fi networks. Costs range from $7 and up per month. A secure VPN provides an additional layer of security that is extremely difficult to defeat. Unless the hacker is extremely determined they will most likely move on and try an easier target.

I have the Sprint Sierra 3G/4G Wireless Overdrive. I've only had it a week but over all I'm pleased with it. Cost me 50 bux with a 50 dollar mail in rebate.

My only problem with it is when I was in KC this past weekend, I kept disconnecting from the 4G. I don't know why. 3G hasn't been an issue. But Sprint has the 30 day return deal so if that continues to be an issue I'll bring it back to the Sprint office and either replace or return it.

Overall, I like it, though. Having internet whenever I want it is sweet.
