I guess I just can't buy into all the Pilot/flying J hate - I've always disliked Pilot because it was a glorofied convenience store with diesel pumps outside - limited showers, restaurants, laundry, etc.

I always liked Flying J, but as a company driver, we could never fuel there and they didn't take comdata. Now, it's great for me, since I can shower, do laundry, eat, etc at a real truck stop (FJ) after fueling at either Pilot or FJ.

I guess truckers just need something to whine about... I'm not whining on this one. Oh, and putting automated showers in FJ saves a bunch of time and hassle - what was with having to wait through the fuel line to get a shower key? Not any more.

Be safe, and watch the whining, it's like salt - not good for your blood pressure.

I agree with everything you said except this, it is a myth that non-profits don't or can't make a profit. Indeed many do in fact make a profit. What is the difference is that the profit must be used for the stated mission of the agency and not make some individual rich. But they do make a profit it is just sunk back into their mission.

That is why you will see the Attorney Generals jumping all over non-profits where it can be perceived that the founders or directors are lining their pockets. Non-profits have higher reporting rules in regards to the distribution and direction that their assets go.

The only exception to this would be a mutual benefit corporation. which is a non-profit and can legally distribute its assets to it's members upon dissolution, but when a public non-profit dissolves they can only distribute remaining assets to another non-profit. But they can indeed be profitable.

I have yet to speak to any Flying J employees who like the merger. I have also not spoken to any long term Flying J customers who like the changes after the merger. I was in one a couple days ago. I wanted to get a sit down meal. The restaurant was closed. Denny's backed out on coming into that location, according to an employee with whom I spoke. Bummer. I decided to skip dinner altogether. I could not bring myself to eat some of their pizza or other things that they try to pass for food. I did eat one of their breakfast burrito's yesterday morning. I should have skipped that, too.

Since the J and Pilot merger I have tried Denny's a few times and found them to over priced. So now I save money be getting my food at Walmart and other stores. Since I started to eat out of the truck I find that I'm saving money. I park at these two stops but won't spend my money there. Get a good Inverter, a good fridge and your set to go. We don't need them.

I got this cooler for $99.00 and it works just as well as the fridge I have at home.

I said this on another post but will put it here also, i wish truck stops or travel centers were all like the one in little america wyoming, trucks have their own fueling place at one end of the property, cars and rvs on the other end of the property keeping 4 wheelers out of the way of truck drivers getting fuel and receipts as well as showers and food, there is a nice restaraunt there at one end of the property where both 4 wheelers and truck drivers can eat or the eatery for truck drivers where they fuel, i wish all travel plazas or truck stops were this way it sure makes it easier that way.

I remember taking my son with me somewhere when he was about 3 years old. While we were standing in line, he mentioned he needed to use the restroom. So, I took him. As he was going, a well dressed man left the stall and exited the restroom. My son mentioned to me that he hadn't washed his hands.
Well, we re-entered the line we were standing in and when there only a couple of minutes my son piped up and said, "That man didn't wash his hands and he pooped!". I sort of looked around the room and noticed everyone snickering behind their hands....while the man got red faced and left the building. LOL Pretty bad when a 3 year old calls you on it.
