    i must ask, who is this sparky fellow.
    have not used a radio in 15 years and thinking about hooking one up again.
    i just cant make my self by one off a truck stop self. have not seen a cb shop in mich. in at least 10 years.

    Sparky is Al, the owner and operator of Sparkys CB shack. This is a CB shop but it's not one of those ones you find in a truck stop that's willing to mess up your radio and take your money because they figure you're a passing thru trucker that chances are will not be back anytime soon.

    Al doesn't candy coat things like some other CB shops do. If he knows the mod won't work well, he'll refuse to do it....because he values good business and pleased customers over jumping at the chance of getting in your wallet. Yes he can be a little short tempered but good CB techs are far and few, I'll take a short tempered guy if it means not getting a hacked radio in the process.

    Well. Got home and got my radio and first thing noticed was a huge scratch across the top and bottom of the radio. Didn't think a whole lot about it being its hidden. Got it installed and noticed that when I keyup and "audio" or whistle it hardly swings into the red on the meter on the radio. I'm no exspert but all my others. Always pegged it out. Also. When I wiggle or put pressure on the mic plug at the radio it wil cut out and/or give a lot of feedback through the ext. Speaker and I tried two different mics and both do the same. All this tells me this radio was more than likly returned to him and then sent to me.. I have called 3 times and no replys and an email to find out about him sending me another that is new.. but guess what... no replys..

    Typical lol. This thing was a return to him and he didn't even look at it appaently.. the others on here can praise him all they want. I'm stating the facts plain and simple and this is bulls**t way of doing. Business.

    I sure hope you know that to be true before posting it. I myself used to sing Sparkys highest praise, That is until I was burnt a couple times as were a few people I sent his way. It really sucks but many dedicated customers and long time members of his own board now refuse to do business with him. I really hope he can get back to his roots and turn this around. I have been doing alot of business with Doug at http://customcbradios.com/Default.aspx as well as sending customers his way. If you can't get your problem resolved I recommend you give him a call. Good luck.

    CB shops are definitely out there. Here in Missouri there's a CB shop every 30-50 miles along I-44.

    Don't be afraid to buy a CB from one of the national truck stop chains. You can find an excellent deal when they go on sale. TA's usually have good deals that run monthly.
