Sitting at a rest area in western Tennessee I made good time today, I called the powers that be after SAE & BFD told me "Nope no one to take this load from you when you get to Az" well guess what, I'm taking it to Phx and they can get it from there, under the direction of the powers that be. I should be in Phx late Sunday I hope, I just wish I could get out of this rain it has been raining for 3 days now!!

Hey WD it was good to talk to you today on the phone, I wish you all the luck in the world on Shirleys position, that spot needs a good honest person in it. Again if I can help in anyway let me know you got my number, we will be in touch on the other stuff, thanks again. TD24
P.S. if anyone else needs my number to bad(I'm joking), I'm all out of favors and next months supply is pretty thin the way things look right now!! If anyone needs anything PM me and I will do my best to help you out, just don't ask for $20.00 worth of $100.00 bills...LOL... -
sitting at the FJ in Vegas.. ran out of hours until midnight, heh
-
im ran out as well. im going to be about 3 hours behind on these drops.
i think tomorrow will suck more than that last pier 1 i did...1st 1 would be good if i could get there at 5 like im supposed to...with cars in the lot honestly im not very sure at all how im going to get in and out. hoping not too many people are out shopping for wicker chairs. if anyones that bored punch this into google:
101 north river drive spokane wa
this is what im saying where some of these need to get with some local distributor with straight trucks....they gave me some driver feedback form and thats what im putting. and last pier 1's they didnt even answer their phones, even the later in the day drops it would just ring and ring, so so much for directions i was all on my own to find them. i ended up in 1 lot i could barely escape from just trying to find my way in...forget the fact it takes 5 hours to unload a trailer full of this crap by hand haha -
*smacks both who were in Ontario and didn't try to say hi and then smacks Joe for running out of hours sooooo close*

I didn't ask why they feel the need to do that. I feel like if you make any trouble they just make it worse for you.
Later, I cooled off a bit and decided they're just checking that your laptop (or other electronic device) really turns on and runs.. basically making sure that its a real electronic device and not a a fancy box full of drugs or something.
ps sorry for the slow replies.. I have no internet all week in Canada, so only get back on here to post on Fri/Sat. -
Not many people in the west of Canada speak French.. that's an eastern canada thing. I lived in the east coast (MASS) for 10 years.. and I the easterners always thought I'd know french. But I grew up in the redneck west..
Cellular:
I signed up for the Verizon Canada/USA plan.. $60/month. not that bad..
The internet though, that's a pain. Verizon wants $2 a MEGABYTE for net use while in Canada. That's like.. $10 for 1 mp3. This is a recent policy change for Verizon as of a month or so ago. I can't say anything about truckstop wifi, I wouldn't (and won't!) use that anyway..
Truck Stops (in Alberta at least):
I haven't had any trouble with truck stops or "turn outs" along the highways. Mind you.. there's way less NICE rest areas.. and most of the rest areas are really just places you can pull over, and there's a garbage can there. No toilets. There is one rest area near Warner, AB that has an outhouse though!
Border:
mostly not a big deal. but you do have to make a few calls on your way to the border to make sure all the ppw is in order, or you can get hung up there for awhile. That *does suck. And .. unless you do some illegal stuff in your cab or.. maybe you'd be embarrased to have someone find out what you do in your cab.. (like you crossdress or have a RealDoll in there?) there's not much to worry about if they decide to inspect you.
HomeTime:
I usually only get one "full" day off.. that being Saturday. Friday depends on when I finish my last trip. Some Fridays I'm done by noon, others by midnight. Sunday I usually have to get driving around 10am so that I can make a Monday morning delivery.
Hope some of that helps.. -
does everyone up there just crap in the woods?
they do put cones out so no one will park there...you need pretty much everything. the hotel next door took some space i could have used. if you looked at the google you pretty much go in and pull forward down the dead end, and back up in a big U! haha theres also a post where a lightpole used to be right in the middle to make things that much more interesting.
actually no one #####ed at me, which was my big concern. i was almost 3 hours late for the first one and an hour late for the other 2. i would have just barely made it on time, but when i got to the shipper they hadnt finished loading the trailer. they did at 4, which gave me 13 hours to go 300 miles and get in my 10. do the math, and then factor in the delay made me hit rush hour, and the mountains were getting crazy snow so that slowed me down even more.
