    Hey Mark

Is the USB problem with unknown device fixed with some of the newer laptops and the TND 510/710?

My old laptop died a few months ago and I bought a ASUS G73. It is a hi end gaming laptop. And haven't been able to update my TND 500 since. I am having the same exact problem others are having. I went as far as buying a powered USB 2 Hub and that didn't work ether. And support told me to go buy an old laptop. I would rather throw this thing out the window then spend more money on it.

I was very happy with it until I had this problem and would be willing to buy a 710. But only if this problem was addressed with the 510/710 models.

I am thinking i want to get the 710 also, sheesh wish I would have looked at this thread before i bought the 700 yesterday.

I called and I can exchange the 700 but pose this question. Is the 710's new features worth the extra 100 bucks? I am on the 34 hour reset and am thinking about making a 3 hour trek to exchange the 700 for the 710 but will wait till I get some feed back here first.

Additionally when I connected the 700 to my computer yesterday to install the dock station I received a warning sign on the GPS screen indicating a file was missing and to call customer service with provided number.

I called and they were closed as they are open M-F and close at 1700 Mountain time

    thanks.

On the 500, how long does your battery last?...Mine dies after 2-3hrs...Is that normal?

Look on the top lid. If it is a 510 it will state such.

500 to 510 - not really, some hardware changes

    Thanks,
    Mark

The issue being with the newer 64 bit/win 7 machines they handle USB port communications and power different based upon the maker of the laptop. The TND model's are build to USB standards.

If yours will not connect, E-Mail me and I can send you a 1.1 hub to see if that helps. You will lose some transfer speed.

    Thanks,
    mark

If you are getting that message you need to return. You have some slight internal file corruption and since you just got it, use the return policy.

Their are some new features that will run on the 710 only and not other models.

    Thanks,
    Mark

That is normal. The TND was designed to run on AC or DC power with the understanding this TND goes in a truck and for the most part you will be only using when you are driving and not a nature trail.

The T7C will come in about 30 minutes.

    Thanks,
    Mark
