I hope it was worth the money!!!!!!!! -
I am getting quite a few requests for information on the 510\710 in regards to software and such. I work in the R&D department overseeing the Beta testers and working on issues that you find or the testers find.
I have asked my boss and the Senior Product manager to toss together something that I can post here. I do not want to post something and then find out it is not true.
So bear with me on this. As soon as they give me something that can be posted here I will post it. But, if you still have questions, then I will direct those questions back to the same folks. If you wish to just E-Mail me then that is fine also.
I am not trying to hedge around your questions, I am just not sure of the way the product is going in regards to software.
Thanks,
MarkDirtyDirt Thanks this. -
Please when you get a TND no matter what model, please plug into a AC or DC source without turning the TND on and let it charge a couple of hours. If you power it right up you may get some odd things happening.
Also, for right now the 510\710 will not update on the TND Dock. You will get a message and if you try to pull up the manual you may get an error message.
A updated TND Dock will be coming out soon to allow the 510\710 to be "seen" by the TND Dock for updating.
Also on the new Dock, under the button for info you will see a new button to allow you to do CRC checks of your map data files. I suggest when this is available that you do this CRC check. Once it is done and it may take a few hours, it will let you know what map (DCA) file is in error or if all the map (DCA) files are good to go.
If you do have a DCA file in error, I will have the files available for you to download and replace. Most of these DCA files are about 100mb. High Speed is suggested.
Thanks,

I don't think it would be profitable for a company to automatically upgrade all prior devices to the current stuff. Its kind of like asking windows to upgrade windows 95 to windows 7 or Vista etc... for free. Its just not gonna happen.
Technology changes fast and just when you think you got the biggest baddest widget on the block, street, town etc something trumps it and does it fast.
A lot of money goes in to creating this new technology and the companies after all need to make a profit to stay open. I am leaning toward thinking we will have to pay for the upgrade, wait I did that yesterday. I hope for your sake and the others it works out in your benefit. just my 2 cents. No offense or malice meant or directed in any way shape or form.
