What was the biggest challenge you faced starting out?
Wedge Thanks this. -
wulfman75 Thanks this.

The biggest challenge I've faced? That's easy. The DOT says my hearing exceeds their minimum requirement, but the trainer for the company I signed on with says that's not good enough.
But that applies to me.
I would say my first run under load was a big hurdle (Nashville to Salt Lake City). I had a taste of ice covered roads, high winds, all at night. -

Sorry Wedge I am just now catching up on reading! Been gone since last Sun. Sorry things didn't work out. You may have been able to talk to the higher ups but I understand where you are coming from at this point. Everything happens for a reason though and you need to keep that in mind. There is a better opportunity awaiting you.
Is there an option of you not mentioning your hearing at all in the future? Like I said before I am deaf in my right ear and have never told anyone doctor or individual giving me a physical. I don't condone lying but there are some things better left unsaid and can save you a lot of hassle.
Good luck to you if you need anything don't be afraid to ask. Oh yeah, keep checking craigslist everyday!

Really?
Hello Everyone.
I put in a call to the head of safety at Central this morning. In essence he told me that they won't allow the use of my new digital hearing system because in effect I have purchased hearing aids for my hearing aids......He won't overrule the doc and sign off on my gizmo, for obvious reasons. He did say I'd be welcomed back if I can get the hearing sorted out.
But I do have good news to report. My son has return from his tour of duty in Iraq and is stateside. We spoke to him last night, and he's making plans to head out this way for a visit. We can't wait to see him.
That's it for now.
Thanks for reading.
-WedgeTrilleth, American-Trucker, chompi and 2 others Thank this. -
I figured it was worth the gamble being that it's been quite some time since my graduation. Central would let me pick up where I left off, and that's how we left it.
I never disagreed with that post........ just felt it wasn't a dead issue.
My son's return is welcomed news. I thank you most kindly.
